Oh, my childhood. ! My brother just got back from Melbourne, and as well as the delicious green goo, he brought a bunch of stuff from my aunt, and she found Furry Friends chocolates. Oh my GOD. And I am having attacks of nostalgia all over the place and neither mum nor Mark remember them at all. (Philistines ( Read more... )

1) Yeaaaaaaaaah. I love him soooooooooo much, Q. Oh, show.

2) ...further elucidation! I swear! Okay, not so much explanation required - Cadbury in Australia make a milk chocolate with green runny peppermint inside the squares (the aforementioned 'goo') and it is unbelievably good and addictive, and the wily bastards don't make/sell it in NZ at all. We can only get the dark-chocolate-with-white-gooey-peppermint-filling which, as much as I adore dark chocolate, is VASTLY inferior in terms of both the combination taste and the quality of the peppermintygoo. The green goo is Good. The white goo is very average.

3) I was lots better today, though, really, thank goodness. I do have a marginal amount of self-preservation (okay, I lie, I actually have a lot; this is why I do things like say "yeah, NO" and get out of cars that are stuck instead of trying to unstick them from a windy precipice by myself (this was like a year ago, I think I forgot to post about it cos it was the day after U2)) and I tend to err on the side of caution with my health generally (stupid lungs!), mostly I was just whining here. And I think getting a good two hours more sleep last night than I had the night before helped a bunch, too. ...man, they would be so screwed if I wasn't there, heh, yeah, exactly. *snugs you so very very much* (How do you feel about marshmallow, btw? And mint? And caramel? These are important questions to my mind!)

1) I've actually only seen half of Firefly - despite having all of it, plus a copy of Serenity - because I cannot bear to finish it because then? It will be OVER, and there will never be any more, and I can't quite take that prospect. So I am in denial. (Though not about a couple of key points in Serenity, for which I forced someone to spoil me, because otherwise I would not have been able to contemplate wash- er, watching it.)

2) Mmmm, chocolate and peppermint. One of the top two or three confectionary combinations ever. ♥ I'm now wondering why Cadbury doesn't make dark chocolate with the green goo. Wouldn't that be the best of both worlds?

3) *pets you* You're allowed to whinge, honey. I just worry. It's a skill, and I believe in developing my skills - especially where my friends (and their lungs, eek) are concerned.

3a) Very very pro-mint, especially if it's not supersweet and is combined with dark chocolate. (Although, that said, the whole dark-chocolate-coated Altoids thing strikes me as sort of misbegotten. Altoids should come only in sinus-clearingly-strong peppermint. No coatings. No other flavors. Yis.) My default candy in the States is the York Peppermint Patty - do those travel?

3b) Also quite pro-caramel. Such a simple substance - basically cooked sugar - but boy, it's YUMMO.

3c) Marshmallow, in my experience, is as much a texture as it is a flavor, and I like the texture very much. Most marshmallows, sadly, are not vegetarian, so unless the circumstances are special - like, say, sitting around the now-crumbly stone patio my dad and grandfather built years ago at my grandfather's farm in West Virginia [in case this is not obvious: v. rural US state, next door to Virginia/Maryland/Washington D.C.] toasting marshmallows for s'mores with my sister, my new brother-in-law, and my new step-nieces - I don't eat 'em much.

4) SQUIDGE.

1. Oh, dude, I can THOROUGHLY support and understand that reasoning. I'm kind of doing that with Sports Night, still - haven't watched the last disc, because then it's over...

2. Mmmm, yes, exactly. And, oh god, yes. That'd be nice...

3. Oh, good. *is relieved!* (Sincerely! Not at all in any facetious sort of way! *has to disclaimer these things as a result of Regular Voice and Sarcastic Voice sounding a lot alike*)

3a. Ooh, good to know. *mental notes* ...wait, they chocolate coat altoids now?? You're right, that is just SO WRONG. Ooh, York Peppermint Patties. I tend to grab a couple of those anytime I'm over, they are YUM.

3b. Also excellent. Moo ha ha.

3c. Oh, yes, of course - that's one thing that despite knowing better by virtue of having MADE them, I always, always forget are not, in fact, veggie. *ponders this further*

4. *smoooooooooooshes you* <3<3<3

SNERK. I have that problem offline sometimes, which is disconcerting. I seem to have inherited my father's poker face. (Hopefully not his fucked-up brain chemistry and tendency to wallow, however. Oh, wait...)

I KNOW.

If you send your snailmail addy to me at keeyoo at gmail dot com, I will enable your addiction very very happily.

They can be made thus, I gather. As can jello (Jell-Otm), one of the classic desserts of my childhood, which is made with the same coagulating agent. I have a good friend who makes gourmet marshmallows; I'll have to ask her what she knows about veggie substitutes.

In conclusion: ♥, just cos.

(PS: okay, LJ? the editing of comments does not make up for the asshattery of the past year, but it does improve my worldview a little, so thank you. grudgingly.)
