ack! quick ameri-picking question: would persons resident in the North American continent know what I meant if I had someone say "she'll snaffle him" or am I mashing together slang that just does. not. work.

Also, anyone about for a quick "does this make sense (y/n)" beta on something very very short in about, oh, fifteen minutes or so?

I'm assuming it's like clobbering someone or just generally being unhappy, like "omg she's gonna kill him when she finds out!"

???

Not anything I've ever heard, but if you're writing in SGA (assuming here), they might have some of their own slang over thattaway??

Okay, verb change then. (In whatever parlance my brain is passing off as 'english' these days it means something more like 'snap someone up'. Basically, a dorkier and more polite version of 'yoink!')

And, uh, actually? This one is due South. Heh. But still, thank you very much for the comment, that helps a lot. Good to know!

thank you, thank you, love you muchly. I think I'm nearly done, it's seriously only about 400 words long, just gotta wrest it into shape. Oh, and have one of those newfangled 'ending' things. :)

*snugs you a LOT*

take your time, I'll be around a while yet... I know all about wresting words into shape. Also jumping up and down on them a few times and breaking out the hammer. Er, metaphorically.

*looks over just one of 16 900+ page documents* En-ding? What a strange word...

*snugs back*

(pertaining to icon used here: Sam and Toby, looking over speech:

Toby: It's good...
Sam: Yeah.
Toby: It's good...
Sam: Yep.
Toby: It's...
Sam:....
Toby: It's flat.
Sam: Yeah.
Toby: I'm not writing well.
Sam: No, I'm not writing well.
Toby: You did good. You reached your potential here.
Sam: I can do better than this!
Toby: *I* can do better than this!
CJ: What are you guys doing?
Toby: Having difficulty locating our talent.
[CJ exchanges words, leaves]
Toby: Alright... it can't have gone far, right? Somewhere... in this building... is our *talent*.
Sam: ...yeah.)

ah, see, the time thing is... it's due in... 23 minutes. oops? (ahh, deadlines. they add SPICE to life. *head desks at idiocy of self*)

and yes, i rather think you do. <3 and, yeah, i know, dude. end-ing? really? wossat?

and, oh, BLESS. *hearts boys even more* And Chris just got a bunch of West Wing on DVD so as soon as we're done with Stargate franchise stuff (and since i'm going off house sitting and will likely have little-to-know internet I'll have nothing else to do other than catch up FAST) we're going to start gorging on that next. so soon I will know what half the internet has been talking about all this time!

I don't know what snaffling is, but it sounds like something delicious that involves fried potatoes.

shihadchick December 23 2006, 03:26:21 UTC

one might snaffle up food, maybe? but definitely not a person.

shihadchick December 23 2006, 03:43:21 UTC
the food version is definitely more often used, and thank god at least one person was familiar with what i meant, at least. *pokes brain back towards behaving more consistently*

ah, what's the point in having a vocabulary the size of several houses if you don't use it every now and then? :)
