I just hurt something flailing at a Firefly reference on Bones. Um. Yeah.
...then again, I also flailed at an ad for my bank. But I love my bank. They're so good. *pets them*
And it was rapidly followed by a Star Wars reference, a lesbian reference, two guys in a shower together AND a guy in a santa suit talking science. This is the best episode of Bones ever.
And I don't normally think this show is that great, really, but this is HILARIOUS. ...I'm gonna be seriously pissed off if this has a sad and realistic type ending.
EDIT: Oh, man. The opening ceremonies are so fucking pretty. *is Barrayaran enough to REALLY APPRECIATE five km worth of fireworks all along the Yarra river and on top of almost all the buildings in downtown* SO PRETTY. And they had the MCG lined with kids signing to the National Anthem. That was awesome. Well done, Melbourne. And the whole bit! With the boy! And the duck! And the dream sequences, and especially the Outback one, fucking hell. And then the boy HAD A REAL DUCK AT THE END. (I mention this especially for the four people who will get a bigger kick out of it for very different reasons.) Or, as I said to mum: "Boy, that better be one well-tranquilised duck." (Okay, in reality it looked a lot more like, um, a goose but I don't know from birds so moving on!)
Take notes, Vancouver...
And, okay, I love the pageantry of it all, and the parade of nations is just total spectator sports at its best (okay, and I lose, because I just had to admit there's a country I've never even HEARD of before - Guyana - although at least I knew where Lesotho is) and it's fabulous... except a tiny part of me is secretly REALLY hoping they drop the Queen's baton into the Yarra. Because that would be hilarious. I mean, I'm sure they have contingency plans and all, but... oh, hell. You'd think that would smack right up against my embarrassment squick, but apparently not.
Do we get kicked out of the Commonwealth for cracking up when that one guy's accent made "Highnesses" sound like "Heinouses"? Because, um. Yes.
And, aw, mum got all excited over Dame Kiri singing, it was cute.
...and more shiny things going boom, and it's over and I'm done now. :)
Who says we can't take the piss out of ourselves? ;)
