Title: Don't Call Me Shirley
Warnings: None
Summary: 2-pager; 1934, America discovers his newest favorite movie
A/N:
I am completely convinced that America's one of favorite movie is
Bright Eyes (1934) with Shirley Temple. (Unrecognizable as human beings? All they did was talk about how annoying she was behind her back. Then again the review was from 1934.) Believe it or not, her movies were made for adults at the time. Depression-era, meant to be uplifting while still addressing socio-economic problems. This was also the film that propelled her into stardom, helping her get her first mini-Oscar in 1934.
And there totally was a Brit ragging on her for England's exact complaints, (pst, his name's Graham Greene). XD Oh and "go-to-the-ground" is old slang for "little short person." And did you know popcorn became popular in the Great Depression because it was cheaper than most other food? Do you know what else is terrifying? I looked exactly like Jane Withers at that age. O__O (Wow, these A/N seem disproportionately long to the length of this comic.)
