Hehe, so this is just a quickie, which quite honestly started as a shameless excuse to get England into a skirt. But then I started reading up on stewardesses and my A/N got a bit too long for the not-even-a-mini comic I did. ^^;;;
Title: Now Boarding
Warnings: Crossdressing
Summary: Pilot!America pokes fun at Stewardess!England
A/N: So this pretty much started as a shameless excuse to put England in a skirt. However, the important thing to know (in order to get the joke) about stewardesses is that back in the day they used to have an age limit on who could be one. So, yes, at sometime after 30, you're booted out of your job because you're too old. Seriously. Moreover, pilots back in the day could also pretty much get as much stewardess tail as they wanted...
because they were the rockstars of the air (that and the stewardesses wanted to get married to them before the big 3-0). ...Makes me rather glad I don't live in the 50's. Male chauvinist pigs. I couldn't remember what age one was booted out, so I decided to check out wikipedia (because I'm not going to even try and pretend I'm an expert on the history of stewardesses). What I found just had me laughing my ass off.
Evidently, the term steward comes from the British martime tradition. And in the 1920s, the UK's IMPERIAL AIRWAYS employed "cabin boys" or "stewards" for flights. First of all... IMPERIAL AIRWAYS???? XDDD OMG, are you KIDDING me??? Second, you KNOW what kind of rep those poor cabin boys had, no? (Or at least what they have in fandoms *cough*) Couple that with the swinging tales of Pilot/Stewardess relations in the 50's, you get the premise for a pretty fantastic smut fic there. XD
American airlines didn't pick up the steward idea until 1926, so England definitely has ownership of that. (And of course America had the first pilots. XD) So in a way, pilot!America and stewardess!England is kind of perfect. I just didn't know it at the time. XDD
