I just got back from Michigan a little while ago. I was a groomsmen in a wedding for one of my childhood friends, Rob Olger, who lived across the street from me after I moved to Grand Haven. He is my age, and it seemed very surreal to be at his wedding. I kept thinking: Is this the same kid that I used to play Pokemon, Star Wars cards, and video games with? The one that carpooled with me, whom I had to wake up nearly every day because he consistently overslept? It's so strange to stop and realize that he has grown up so much.
I was having this same conversation with a few people at the wedding reception, and someone pointed out that I've changed a lot too, even in the last two or three years. I can recognize it in myself, to an extent -- I've had to become even more professional and responsible in the last few years -- but it is always easier to identify and see in other people.
The wedding was great, the reception was fun, and I got to spend time talking to some people that I haven't seen in a long time. (This seems to be pretty typical for weddings I've gone to recently -- definitely not complaining here!) Now I just need to catch up on a bunch of reading that I neglected this weekend...
This is completely unrelated, but I had one of the coolest dreams ever last night. I dreamt of a story that was a fusion of the premises from The Matrix, Inception, and Alias in that it focused on a character just learning how to tap into special abilities to move between and operate in two different "worlds"--like moving between reality and dreams in Inception, but that the "other world" was a stable shared experience of different people (a la Matrix). The character was part of a special ops team (like Alias) trying to foil the plans of some "bad guy" who operated in this other dream-like world. The best part? At the end of the dream, I realized that it was a television show starring Jennifer Garner (Alias). I would totally watch this show if it existed, and it would be epic. So, someone should get to work on making that and then credit me for the idea.
In other news, because none of my LJ friends have posted an entry recently, my "recent entries" Friends page on LJ is completely blank. :( So...please update for me! Tell me how you are doing! I miss having other entries to read.
