Round Four: Ready to rumble Pt 1

The showdown of all showdowns was about to begin.

Shige held his breathe, and stared in rapt attention as Ueda and Ryo circled one another, a predatory glint in their eyes.

Slowly Ueda advanced forward, and aimed a forceful hit at Ryo. However Ryo managed to dodge the hit, if only be a few centimeters.

There were screams coming from the audience, and among them the yells from their band mates, who had somehow been situated in the first row of the audience with a perfect view of the ring.

“Ganbatte Ryo-chan!” Tegoshi called, waving his arms enthusiastically. Koyama looked rather apprehensive and was attempting to comfort Yamapi who was starring down at the stage wide-eyed, and a bit terrified. That a stretch in itself. as the usually emotionless eyes that were always affectionately called the ‘dead fish eyes’, were seeped in worry and slight terror.

Masuda alone seemed composed, sitting on the edge of his seat, and fingernails biting into his armrests, eyes fixed upon Shige.

The members of KAT-TUN didn’t look all that much better, Kamenashi gnawing at his bottom lip, with Koki giving him reassuring pats and really the only thing that kept the former from jumping onto the stage and demanding an ending.

Taguchi looked slightly troubled, eyes glued to Ueda’s pink headgear and gloves, while Nakamaru looked both calm and a bit irritated.

Conflicting emotions of jealousy and worry washed over Nakamaru as he watched his long time friend weave in and out as though creating his own dance of parries and blows.

Seconds ticked by as the two men seemed to continually dodge each others swings, until the inevitable happened.

With a quick swish Ueda managed to land a punch, getting Ryo smack down in his abdomen. There was a general gasp, and fearful whispers of ‘Ryo-chan!’ throughout the audience, as Ryo ended up doubled over in pain.

Ueda paused in his advancement, in a general boxing match he would have of course continued on the attack now that he’d found an opening, landing a series of swift hooks and jabs to the mid-section until his opponent was bruised and sore enough to admit defeat.

But this wasn’t a general match, it was a boxing match between two members of Johnny’s Entertainment. And as such, Ueda found himself forced to pause and allow Ryo a moment to regain his composure.

“What’re you doing! Tatsuya! Finish him off!” Jin cried from his side of the ring. He was leaning precariously over the top rope, his glove outstretched towards Ueda. “Get him!” He called.

Ueda gave Jin an annoyed look, obviously he wanted to continue, but it really wouldn’t fit into the niceties of the NHK channel if he continued to beat Ryo senseless.

It was as Ueda was giving Jin a dirt look that he heard the general intake of breathe that clearly meant Ryo had managed to regain his composure and looked angry.

Ueda bit back a smirk, clearly that one little hit had managed to rattle Ryo.

Ryo let out a slight growl and lunged towards Ueda blindly throwing a punch towards the older man. Ueda dodged it easily, and even let out a light laugh.

“Angry?” he asked, in a slightly taunting voice.

Ryo’s lip curled back into a grimace, as he threw a glare at the boxer. “Ryo! Don’t let him get to you!” Shige called from the other side of the ring, obviously his hearing was quite good.

Ryo didn’t answer, but took a deep breathe before he headed in with a series of punches. The first missed Ueda completely, but the second made its mark and hit the taller man in face, the next punch was followed by a heavy blow to his midsection.

Ryo expected Ueda to stumble down as he had done previously, but Ueda surprised him, by instead bouncing forward and giving Ryo a firm blow to the head and hard stroke at the shoulder that left Ryo gasping in pain.

The short man struggled for breathe, but continued to throw a few wild punches at Ueda. Many of them missed their target, except for the one well-aimed and forceful punch that landed on Ueda’s nose.

There was a ding that signaled a break in the round.

Ueda stumbled towards his corner, trying to hide the fact that his nose was bleeding.

Ryo limped towards his corner where Shige carefully sat him on the stool that had been provided and pulled his face close to see the damage.

“Oh my god!” Shige yelped, taking in the bruises that were already scattered about Ryo’s handsome face.

“I need alcohol and hydrogen peroxide! NOW!” he cried, trying to pull his own gloves off so as to better assist Ryo.

He was stopped by one of aides, “we’ll take care of it.”

Ueda was being helped by one of the aides, after he’d resolutely turned away from Jin, who was demanding to see the damage inflicted. “Ryo-chan actually broke your nose?!”

“He didn’t break anything!” Ueda responded, although his voice sounded a bit muffled due to the fact that the aides had a tight hold on his bloody nose. This of course sent Jin into a slight fit of giggles.

“Ueda you sound funny,” he said with a slight giggle.

“You’ll see what’s funny when I stick my foot up your - ” Ueda began to warn, but was cut off by the shrill sounds of yelling.

Jin blinked, was that Kamenashi?

Before either of the two could say much else the bell gave a loud ‘ding’ and Ueda was up and bouncing towards the middle of the ring.

“Give me a tag for this round!” Jin called after Ueda.

Ryo stood, rather balanced and stiff, clearly he was in a bit of pain.

“GANBATTE!” was the general cry of the audience.

“Fighto!” Taguchi and Tegoshi cried in unison.

Dirty looks were interchanged between the two, although neither was known for pettiness, this was one instance in which they fit the idea of feminized males of the industry.

“Gloves up!” Shige yelled.

Ryo complied and held his gloves at eye level, and took deep steady breathes, as Ueda seemed to bounce around, circling his target.

Ueda gave a right handed jab, but was blocked by Ryo’s gloves and with a forceful shove, Ryo managed to push Ueda off with the force of both his fists.

He nearly lost his footing, but managed to hold his balance.

“Attack him!” Jin called.

Uncharacteristically Ueda followed his teammates instructions and steadily moved forward, his stance taking a much more real look to it.

And in one swift moment Ueda’s gloves came alive, almost inhumanely as they speedily landed punches, jabs and upperhooks.

The bright pink gloves became a blur, as they attacked and hit at every possible inch of Ryo available.

Ryo let out a slight moan in pain, and felt himself fall over.

Shige felt his mouth run dry, it was almost in slow motion that he saw Ryo’s back arc as he fell backwards, away from the lethal punches Ueda had just delivered.

It was almost eerily silent, “it looks as though Nishikido-kun might need to tag his partner at this point,” Hikaru said.

“And it looks as though Ueda-san and Akanishi-san are leading,” Keito whispered into the mic softly.

And indeed a look at the scoreboard overhead clearly marked the outcome.

Shige gulped, before turning back to Ryo, who was unsteadily trying to get to his feet.

“Ryo-kun!” he yelled, “tag me!”

Ryo shook his head, and managed to regain his balance. “I’ve got it,” he said, resolutely turning back to Ueda.

“That all you got?” he asked, bringing the gloves back up to eyelevel. He’d worked out that obviously counted towards strategy points, Ueda however hadn’t figured that fact out as of yet, as he slowly came towards Ryo.

Fear is what most people would feel in a situation like this, but Ryo wasn’t like most people, he was Ryo. He was a member of NEWS and Kanjani8, he wasn’t afraid of a man who pretended to see fairies.

And he wasn’t about to bow out, and have his team-mate pummeled to the ground by the likes of Ueda Tatsuya.

With that thought firmly planted in his head, Ryo lunged forward and gave Ueda a few hard jerks to the face, and landed a hard punch straight into his stomach.

Ueda let out a grunt in pain, that last punch had actually hit a tender spot. He let out a gasp, and managed to block a few of Ryo’s punches.

And then it happened, Ryo’s anger seemed to boil over as he unleashed a series of hits, his gloves working at such a high rate that it was hard to distinguish which was left and which was right. And all Ueda could see was a mixture of electric blue and bright pink, as he held his gloves above his face, trying to parry the punches.

* * *

To say Kamenashi was freaking out was an understatement, hysterical was a more accurate term of describing the man, as he fidgeted in his seat, trying to hide the tears that were threatening to boil over.

The usually composed man, was having a panic attack, watching his bandmate jump around the ring beating his opponent to a pulp and in return getting an equal measure of pain.

“HIS NOSE!” Kamenashi cried, above Koki’s consoling whispers.

“His nose is fine,” Koki cut in, grabbing Kamenashi’s hand and giving it a reassuring squeeze.

“It’s NOT fine, he’s bleeding!” Kamenashi argued.

“He’ll pull through, you know he spends all that extra time in the gym for a reason,” Koki replied. “Now, SIT!” he commanded, pulling Kamenashi back onto his seat.

“You’re freaking everybody else out even more!”

“I DON’T CARE!” Kamenashi cried. Koki let out a heavy sigh, there was obviously little reasoning with Kamenashi on this point.

“Kamenashi-kun, please calm down,” Koyama whispered, rubbing Kamenashi’s back soothingly. “We’re freaking some of the fans out,” he explained, softly.

Kamenashi didn’t know why, but for some reason Koyama’s suggestion of ‘calming down’ sounded nice. Aside from that, the very light and comforting touch Koyama had given him, was more than enough to soothe him.

He took a quick look behind, at the audience and noticed a good portion of them were giving him worried stares.

Guilt washed over him, here he was a grown man freaking out about the safety if his bandmates with a few thousand girls sitting behind him not only worried about all four people in the ring, but about he himself as well.

He, who was comfortably sitting with his backside firmly planted into a soft seat. Why worry for him?

He took a deep breathe and turned to give the girls a calm and serene smile. “Daijobuka,” he whispered.

It was like magic, immediately the girls let out a little sigh, and sat back on their seats. If Kamenashi-san said it was alright, then undoubtedly it was true.

Yamapi seemed to be having the opposite reaction from Kamenashi, as he sat stiffly, eyes wide and terrified as he stared down at the ring, watching his two best friends ready to fight it out.

“Yamashita-kun,” Koyama said softly, placing a hand on his arm.

“They’ll be fine,” he muttered in response. “Ryo’s really strong.”

Koyama blinked, he’d never seen Yamapi like this before. In general Yamapi had always been the most mysterious of the group, although perhaps it was mostly due to the fact that most of group still very much respected the ‘senpai/kouhai’ relationship.

Yamapi was always the type to keep things to himself, and it seemed this was one time that particular resolve was crumbling.

It couldn’t be easy to see your two best friends on opposite sides of the ring, ferociously ready to beat one another to pulp, and not only that but to see a member of his group pushed into an activity that definitely wasn’t one he was used to.

The usually laid back leader seemed to be teeming with anxiousness. And Koyama felt utterly powerless to help him. Quietly he laid a reassuring hand on his upper arm. Yamapi tensed for a moment, but quickly relaxed and gave Koyama a tight smile.

Tegoshi on the other hand looked close to tears. In general he wasn’t the crybaby of the group, that particular label usually fell to Masuda or Shige. This time however Tegoshi had tears pooling at the edges of his eyes, not from sadness but from aggravation.

His beloved Ryo-chan was getting his butt handed to him, and there was nothing he, Tegoshi, could do to stop it.

Masuda didn’t seem to notice his band mates stress and was much to pre-occupied staring at Shige, making sure his long time friend didn’t really get hurt. Of course he cared about Ryo, and was a bit appalled at the beating Ryo had gotten, but at the same time was quite impressed with how Ryo too had managed to dish out just as much damage.

The ringing of the bell brought only slight relief to the mass sitting in the audience, but nonetheless it helped, if only somewhat.

“Ryo’s going to have to tag Shige soon,” Koyama whispered to himself, more as a warning than an actual statement.

Author’s note: Ta-da I promised a quick update, didn’t I? XD
I’m actually really happy I was able to do this part quickly, since I had a few unexpected things come up these past few days. So I’m working on the next part now, and hopefully I’ll have that one posted just as quickly. That part will have the winner and probably the next to competitors.

I hope you all liked it, and again I’m going to ask for any requests/suggestions. I got some good suggestions before and I’ve gotten a few ideas, but if anyone else would like to give any Id be all ears and really appreciative of them. =)
