A drabble set written in honor of Shige's 23rd Birthday
A total of 5, because my brain has somehow stopped working, but here they are nonetheless!
Disclaimer: I don't own Shige, that's slavery and it's bad!
Title: Break
Summary: Shige’s stressed, and only one person seems able to keep him at bay.
It was that time of year again, the frenzy of exams creeping along after all the university students and creeping along into the dressing room of an idol group.
Already Koyama and Yamashita had overcome the particular hurdle and were now languidly enjoying their study-free time with Ryo in one corner of the room. Tegoshi was calmly filling out a few assignments on his laptop.
Shige alone sat nearly hidden by textbooks as he read and re-read passages and notes.
Massu watched, slightly awed as Shige gingerly highlighted a few sentances, squinting at the passage, before thoughtfully writing out a few notes into his notebook.
He looked like death, or rather it’s cousin. Massu had of course seen Shige at some of his worst times, but this by far was something more.
Third year university students indeed had a lot of work to do, but Shige looked as though a single blow of the wind would send him keeling over. Massu suspected what he needed was a good nights sleep and a warm meal.
But the frantic yell Koyama had received when he’d suggested Shige take a break, quickly stamped out the idea.
A few minutes of observation and Shige had blearily wiped his tired eyes, and had dove again into another book.
Massu glanced down at the food his mother had made only the night before, her prime gyoza, made especially for a hard-working man. He gave the dumpling a cursory glance, before nodding to himself and placing it back in it’s container.
Gingerly he hopped towards Shige, and gently placed the container on the table, “Ganbatte, Shige-kun,” he said with a smile.
Silence resonated within the room, and then an occurrence that shell-shocked nearly half the people in the room.
“Thanks Massu,” Shige said, pausing only slightly to give the older man a small smile.

Title: Realization
Summary: Shige has a slight meltdown during rehearsal, Ryo tries to help.
Note: Set during early days, pre-hiatus
He didn’t want to leave, but the fact of the matter was that he felt useless. What could he do?
Nothing.
Absolutely nothing.
But another screw-up during rehearsal had him feeling on edge. And he could feel the dam of tears ready to spill put.
And within moments the resentment, the unclear bitterness and the great feelings of uselessness quickly manifested themselves in the salty, wet tears that fell from his eyes.
They didn’t go unnoticed.
“Kato-kun, are you alright?” Ryo asked, worriedly, stopping mid-step as he turned to the younger boy.
Shige shook his head, “I’m fine,” he murmured, deftly wiping his tears. “I just had a bad day,” he explained, giving the others a wet smile. “I’ll be fine.”
Somehow Ryo doubted that, but didn’t feel he knew his band mate well enough to contradict him. Instead he took stance as their real unofficial leader, and conferred with Yamapi deciding that perhaps a ten minute break would be in order.
That was the day Shige decided maybe Ryo wasn’t all that bad, after all.

Title: Appreciation
Summary: Shige likes helping people, Tegoshi likes being helped.
Shige liked being appreciated, it was just one of those traits of his personality. Sometimes he thought it wasn’t bad, but then other times he did think it was a folly.
One such instance of it being a folly, was the fact that Shige could hardly ever say no to anything Tegoshi asked for. One of the things being how he was always asked to set his hair.
Shige hardly minded helping someone, but Tegoshi usually took helping to a much higher level, so that now the setting of hair became a bit of a chore.
“SHIGE!” Tegoshi screeched, from his perch in front of the mirror.
“What?” Shige asked, distractedly, as he flipped through his textbook.
“Can you help me with my hair?” Tegoshi asked, sweetly.
“Can you ask Koyama to help you?” Shige replied, not looking up from his textbook.
“But you do it so much better, Koyama-kun always ends up clumping it together at the ends,” Tegoshi explained, rather seriously.
Shige really couldn’t argue with that, after all that was one of the reasons he himself didn’t allow his best friend to touch his hair.
And so with a slight sigh, Shige got to his feet and readied the hot iron and blow drier.
“Thanks Shige, I really appreciate it,” Tegoshi said earnestly.
Shige could only smile, Tegoshi always knew just what to say.

Title: Mistaken
Summary: Fans always want pictures, at least Shige thinks so.
He was late, a strange occurrence in itself. He’d been meant to meet with a few of his university friends, and currently was already going to be about 10 minutes late.
As Shige hurried through the crowded streets of Shibuya he was quickly stopped by a few girls.
“Umm, excuse me,” the girl began.
“Can you take a picture?”
Shige let out a light sigh, it wasn’t as though he wouldn’t want to take a picture, but he would have thought that by now their fans knew the company rule.
No pictures allowed.
“I’m awfully sorry,” Shige began. “But I’m not allowed to take pictures, company rule.”
The girl stared at him strangely, before turning to others and quickly began conversing in Chinese.
Shige stared dumbstruck, they were foreigners! And quite clearly they didn’t have a clue as to who he was.
“We’re sorry, but what do you mean, you can’t take pictures?” One of the girls asked, curiously.
Shige felt his face heat up, “Ummm, nevermind, my mistake,” he stammered.
After taking a clean shot of the girls Shige hurried off, trying to nurse his bruised ego.
Clearly he’d made a mistake.

Title: Image
Summary: Shige tries to change his image, Koyama discovers it.
“Yeh! Yeh!” Shige said, standing at a rather strange stance, cap pulled to the side.
There was a moment’s pause, before he shook his head. “nope, that’s no good.”
He tried again, “Yeh! Yeh!” he said, dropping his voice a few octaves. Standing with his arms crossed in a ‘gansta’ pose as he’d seen in quite a few American movies. Still as he stared at his reflection in the mirror, he still couldn’t help but feel that it was still wrong.
“What ARE you doing?” Koyama asked, as he stood, stock still in the doorway, giving Shige a questioning look, that was quickly turning into a look of amusement.
Shige immediately felt himself blush to the very roots of his hair, “N-n-n-nothing,” he stuttered, shifting his eyes away from his roommate.
Koyama smiled widely, “Shige-kun’s a ‘gangsta’!”
Shige shook his head, before realizing he still had his cap on, he quickly snatched it off his head. “No, I-I-I-I was j-j-j-j-just um…Acting?” he said, his voice sounding a bit high-pitched.
Koyama laughed, “don’t worry,” he said.
Gently he pressed a finger to his mouth, “Your secret’s safe with me.”
=====> And because I found this adorable GIF at
shigeaday I decided to share Shige's gangstaness' from the Pacific concert tour

And that's the end of them all, I hope you all liked them, I originally had a few other ones, but to be honest they were just dead awful.
Anyway I hope they were satisfactory
And as always comments and criticisms are greatly appreciated!
