LA freeways are the worst

Rachel, faithgrowsold and I are going to a Little Mix concert in a week and a half! To this end, we
  1. drove up to LA and woke up at some stupidly early hour of the morning to wait in line to buy their CD and get wristbands for the signing on Valentine's Day (faithgrowsold has assured me this won't interfere in my plans to drink a bottle of champagne and eat a large chocolate bar, hopefully of British manufacture. In fact, we may give Little Mix valentines! Although probably not, because my two settings in front of celebrities are unflappable ice queen and crying.)
  2. have been listening to Demi Lovato on repeat because it's technically her concert and it'd be nice to know any of the songs. Kt tinhats past Demi/Selena Gomez and cites songs such as this one as totally being about their breakup. I love angry songs and I love a very specific type of sad song (ones that sound like Echo by Jason Walker - if you know of any, please tell me!), so repetitive though some of her lyrics may be, I'm inclined to really like her music. Although, admittedly, I'd be hard-pressed to dislike anything after 5+ repeats.
While I'm being kind of ridiculous, Rachel and I had a brief foray into watching Smallville vids, some of which made us cry with laughter (like this one), and some which just made me want to actually cry (this one, and these two about Lex being sad: tra la), because idk if it's the script or Mike freaking Rosenbaum, but everything about Clark and Lex is earnest and sincere and fraught and let's be honest, it probably IS Mike Rosenbaum and his stupid chemistry with men and his stupid heartbreaking face. Here, have a picture of him in drag.

I finally finished it! The ending was random and abrupt, but didn't do terrible things (when they pretended like they were going to kill Ronon, I was VERY UPSET, although tbh I would have forgiven them for it) and basically kept the show exactly where it was, which is the best I could have asked for. Because it was all kind of anti-climactic and there was no afterglow to bask in, I immediately watched the Deleted Scenes from S5, AND. AND AND AND. Gero was like "I've always thought that Stargate in general was way too heterosexual so we almost put in this scene that maybe would have started an arc where Keller ended up with this badass chick." WHICH WAS FABULOUS~~ and I'm just so happy fjkdlas;.

On the subject of sweet, sweet confirmation, there was some panel where David Hewlett was like, in S5 and S4, Rodney and Ronon were in this love triangle. I'm sure Joe wanted to get a romantic storyline as well, but then again, he did always joke that John already had one, because Rodney was his girlfriend, what with their fight-and-make-up relationship. (transcription of that bit + link to the video here) Soooooooooooo basically the way it kind of looks like John is in a relationship with an oblivious Rodney is the product of Joe Flanigan acting like Rodney is his girlfriend and David Hewlett not noticing. Lolol. Kill me now and I would die happy.

To be completely honest, I tinhat John/Rodney. Why? Because the show makes it abundantly clear that there is no one else in two galaxies who would make John happy, and John being happy is kind of all I want out of the show. Let me count the ways.
  • He was too much of a workaholic for his ex-wife...who turned out to also be a workaholic. Conclusion: needs to date someone who is at least sort of in his workplace/understands what he's doing/has security clearance.
  • John is emotionally constipated enough that the only people he confides in, even a tiny bit, are people on his team
  • Teyla would be great! ...only she's married and has a family
  • Ronon and he see eye-to-eye on a lot of things! ...except it's made abundantly clear that they share no hobbies
  • Elizabeth! is dead. Well, her first nanobyte clone is and the second one is off adventuring with the other copy of the team (which makes me SO HAPPY, you have no idea. maybe one day they meet up with Ford, who fell into a plot hole)
  • Also there's the whole thing where John lived in guilt for euthanizing Sumner, and then turned around and convinced a guy to die in order to save Rodney. Which, just. What. But maybe he would have done that for Teyla and Ronon?
  • John's favourite artist is Johnny Cash. I listened to a Johnny Cash song the other day, and all of the lyrics were about being alone and noble and never letting yourself be happy or settle down. Lbr, Rodney is the most qualified person to argue John out of his bullshit, or at least into marriage.
Idk, maybe if an alien babe like Chaya appeared and romanced him, it would work out, but if everyone retired on Earth and lived far away from one another John would shrivel inside because Rodney understand him both on a deep, emotional level, and a more shallow pop culture one, neither of which any of the other characters on the show seem to have done. Cue me crying about the movie version of LotR and Sam and Frodo separating so that Sam can marry Rosie without mention of the fact that Sam joins him in the Grey Havens, eventually.

All of that said, I'm really annoyed I have to tinhat them - the first three seasons I saw bits of subtext, but didn't really care because the nakama in the show was everything I ever wanted and the people and storylines were way more important than romance. But then fourth season happened and it was every character for themselves, and shipping was the only road to happiness and fjkdlsajlkfd;sa /BITTER

I really need to buy the first season on DVD already so I can rewatch them in French.

Other things in life: SD Comic Con preregistration is on Saturday! Let's hope I have enough money for it, lol. Peach black tea is surprisingly delicious, and not as intensely sweet as apricot tea can get. There is a necklace with a stargate on it on amazon and I want it. I really need a haircut. Physical therapy for a knee injury is much more of a workout than pt for an ankle injury. (I was v pleased when the guy seemed impressed by my balance and muscle mass, and then realized maybe most women wouldn't take it as such a high complement? I think all of the times I read the Alanna books warped my priorities)
