Summary: Mu starts to come to a few conclusions about this strange twist in his life.
Admittedly, he hated it when Kiki was away. It left the temple far too quiet, and far too tense. It also left Mu alone with his thoughts, and right now, that probably wasn't a good thing.
The Aries saint was in his forge, lit and heated solely by the hearth he sat opposite from. It was a moonless night, not to mention overcast so the world beyond the window was dark as pitch. He smelt rain on the air, but so far, nothing had come of it. He probably should have been on more guard, but he was too distracted by his own thoughts to focus on what was outside. Besides, his head still throbbed behind tight mental shields - admittedly, he could have done with another few days of rest, but that would have been unfair to Yuzuhira.
Faintly, he could feel the fluctuations of cosmos being burned for battle - the Bronze Saints, of course, doing the job that should have been reserved for the Gold Saints....yet here they were, confined to the Holy Land in anticipation for the war that could begin at any time.
It was frustrating - a crowning glory to a terrible few weeks.
But still, that was not where his thoughts lay. Rather, they lay farther up, towards the eighth and eleventh temples. They were empty. He'd checked earlier. Both their guardians, however, still lingered on the edge of Mu's senses. This is what baffled him. Milo had died. Mu had felt it. Until that moment, he hadn't been able to feel the other Scorpio saint at all, save for on the plane or when concentrating...
But when he died, Mu had felt it like he would have felt his own Milo fall.
And from that point, the Scorpio temple was empty. A few days later, Aquarius followed suit. That was the day Mu found Camus on the plane. That was the day that Mu really felt Camus cosmo...and that was the strange part.
Compared to those two, and even Andromeda to an extent, the cosmos of the other Saints, felt...superficial somehow. They had been real for awhile, he realized, but part of him had reasoned that it was because they were no longer fighting. Besides, he'd spent the better part of thirteen years shielding himself from them - it would stand to reason that they were not 'in tune'.
Still, to feel those three so close when they'd felt distant before...and to feel Yuzuhira across the span of 200 years...
Mu shook his head out, deciding not to dwell too long on it. There were, after all, other matters that needed attending - like the cosmo of someone passing through on their way out. Mu didn't make a habit of checking on who came and went, but muddled as he was, it would be better safe than sorry. So up he got, walking the ever familiar path to the main temple in time to see the wild, dark blue mane of the Cancer saint.
Mu held no fondness for Deathmask, but he rarely left Sanctuary this way, which piqued the curiosity of the Lemurian.
"Off to town?" Mu asked, fully expecting a scathing response. He was surprised when the other man turned and grinned wickedly.
"Aww yeah," the Cancer saint replied.
Mu tilted his head, surprised by the lack of cocky sarcasm. "Are you feeling alright, Deathmask?" He chanced. "You said two words to me, and neither were insults."
Now it was the other's turn to look surprised. He walked over and rapped twice on the crown of Mu's head (which caused him to wince, but that was hardly important). " The hell's with this "Deathmask" shit? I'm Manigold! You know, the Cancer saint?"
Mu didn't say anything to that - his mind was too busy double and triple-taking. Instead, he just nodded, figuring that if it was a dream, it would pass anyways, and if it wasn't...well..best not to get into a fight.
Manigold, it seemed, got bored and turned to leave again, offering a nonchalant wave over his shoulder at the stunned Aries Saint. Mu watched his back as he left, and stared out the door a long while after he'd gone before shaking his head and going back to the fire.
