Whatever a character was doing before, wherever they were, that’s done now. What matters is where they are now; what they’re about to do here. First point of interest is the collars heavy on their throats. They can try whatever they want to pull or tug but the collars won’t budge. And next, when they’re done grasping at the metal on their necks, they might notice a familiar weapons table. It’s the same one that was on the Plane before but with a few added weapons, a few more guns and a few more implements of the sharp and pointy variety.

But the whole time, in this plain, just-off-white room, is something dark. Cloaked in a black tattered and blood worn reaper guise is Ezra. He’s holding a scythe that appears to be straight out of a fantasy novel, far larger than him with a blade that arches thin and sharp. The edge is stained in something long since dried. Despite these pictures of death, Ezra himself is still the shy, weak boy with braids falling down the front of his cloak. It seems to be taking all his strength to keep the scythe up, though it does beg the question if he’s stronger than he looks just to manage that.

No matter. Whatever his strength is, when he speaks, it is the same trembling voice that he spoke in the first day. Just now he is much closer, just on the other side of the table, and so his eyes keep going to the floor instead of looking at anyone.

“Uhm, I know none of you want to be here. I really am sorry.” Ezra clears his throat. It should be noted no character can interrupt his talk. The collars are stopping anything, which is probably a good thing since otherwise Ezra might not speak again. “I’m h...hosting this. You’re going to have to fight each other to the death. You’re on teams, at least, so someone can help you. But you can’t not fight, okay? If you don’t fight...or try to do something else, then your world will die. So uhm I know it’s bad but you’ll be all right if you fight. Even if you die...”

Ezra seems to realise this isn’t a very good pep talk and quickly skips over that. “The collars will make sure all that gets enforced. I’m just supposed to explain it and clear...clear up the bodies. You can use any weapons you want. I guess you can take more than one. The team that wins gets something really nice. And the losing teams...your worlds will be all right, I promise. You just have to, uhm, try.”

“I-I don’t know if that’s everything but I’ll answer questions if you want. You can stay here until you’re ready to go out. When you leave, you’ll be starting out with your partner. And uhm... I hope you all make it out okay.”

He tries to bow, though it only works so well while holding up the scythe. Then he steps back and watches the characters anxiously. The players for this game will find they can move and speak now and - mostly important - prepare.
