Characters: Remus Lupin (oncemarauder), Ninth Doctor (charmandsmiles)
Location: Hogwarts/the TARDIS Library
Time: is relative.
Summary: Remus discovers that his school is not quite as he left it.
Warnings: Possible sappiness.

Remus strides silently through the empty halls, comfortable in the quiet vastness of Hogwarts at night. He roamed it so often as a boy, after all.

Tonight is not one for frivolous errands, of course; no night is, nowadays. No, he'd got Dumbledore's permission to peruse the school's unique library. If he happened upon any civilian staff, he'd tell them it was for a research project; if he happen upon any students, well. They'd probably be entirely too grateful that he wasn't turning them in to ask questions.

Therefore, he walks with no trepidation. This is, after, the safest place he's ever been, in so many ways. (And yet not safe enough, a voice whispers, and he promptly ignores it.) He reaches the library quickly, opens the door expecting something comfortingly familiar.

And he freezes, because while the Hogwarts library is large enough, it isn't so vast, and it's never hummed around him, and there wasn't a cheerfully frenzied chaos to shelves that went in every direction.
