Characters: Minato Arisato, The Twins
Location: The Shop
Time: After gathering questions
Summary: Minato interviews the Twins because Fumie told him to.
Warnings: None
Minato entered the shop on a quest to get some answers. Not that he had any questions, personally. This entire investigation was for Fumie's sake. She told him to go get some information for the detective agency, so that's what he was doing.
The Twins were standing in the shop unoccupied when he entered, as if they knew he was coming. "What can we do for you, Minato?" they asked, bowing in unison. His first reaction was medical powder. He bought it so often it had become a habit to ask for it, but he stopped himself. His mouth hung slightly open as he remembered why he came here.
"I have some questions."
They tilted their heads. "Questions?" They took on a thinking pose, playfully contemplating his request. "Hmm..." They tapped their feet. Their unison was still mesmerizing. "Well, all right! Go ahead."
He took out his notebook, and read the first question. "Why are there stars on the astral plane?"
"Isn't it pretty?!" They jumped excitedly. If Minato Arisato knew about Gene Hunt's new glittery blood, he would had concluded they very much enjoyed shiny, sparkling objects. "The stars come from the fact that the machine is very much in tune with the universe. The universe is all around you this way. Literally!"
"The machine?" Thinking about it, Meredith said something about welcoming him to it once. That once being the only time they have met so far. It sounded like something Fumie would be interested in.
"You're in it! Or are a part of it. However you want to view it. It keeps the astral plane in existence for you all."
Huh. Interesting. He wrote down the answers, and looked at the next question. Except he had only gathered one question. A thorough investigation cannot be done with one question alone. He better think of some others.
"... What's your favorite candy?"
If he could tell them apart, he would know it was Lapis that preferred chocolates and Lazuli that liked orange and cherry flavoured treats. They both chimed in to speak highly for caramels, and Minato agreed. This lead to the most logical follow up question: "What planet did you come from?"
They opened their mouths at the same time, happy to tell him. They stopped at the same time. Blinked at the same time. "We don't remember anymore."
Minato nodded and wrote down their answer. He wondered what else Fumie, an eleven year old in charge of the astral plane division of a children's detective agency, would consider relevant. "... Do you play video games?"
They did sometimes, though they enjoyed watching others play them more. He also found out that they live in the basement of their shop, have an efficient heating and air conditioning system that they designed themselves, and don't ever have to pay any bills. Confident that he now had enough information to make Fumie happy, he decided to stop asking totally relevant questions.
The Twins bowed again, happy to be of service, and happy to have another person in their debt. "We'll tell you what you owe us for answering later."
Owe? Pictures of Sugarplum Fumies danced through his head, asking for four million Yen. Each. So much for going to the arcade afterwards. He nodded reluctantly and headed out.
The Twins cheerfully waved in unison, grinning. "Bye, Minato!"
