The Doctor, through much trial and error, had discovered that the TARDIS absolutely refused to leave London. Oh, he travelled through a few different eras, but never to a different city, let alone a different world.

It was quite infuriating, and he was now certain something was interfering; he should have realised it sooner.

His frown was deep, pensive, when he spotted the Master; it faded immediately, and he quickened his stride.

"Master. What precisely are you doing in London?" His tone wasn't suspicious, simply curious, and a tad bewildered.

"... Doctor?"

He stared in relative shock, mild confusion. The Doctor had suddenly stepped out of non-existence and onto the planet. It wasn't a teleporter, because there were none of the tell tale signs of teleportation involved with his sudden appearance.

"I'm not in London. I'm on this bloody planet." He paused and began to methodically examine the Doctor. "And you... just suddenly stepped out of nothing."

He stopped several feet from the Master, his brow furrowed as he shook his head.

"That doesn't make sense. I was trying to travel to your planet but my TARDIS apparently can't leave London - I'm afraid I gave up and took a walk, and there you were."

He briefly considered that the Master could be lying, but no, he looked genuinely surprised, confused - and how would that benefit him, in the end?

"Are, rather. ...You're standing in the middle of a park."

"If you've just stepped out of your TARDIS, there is a problem." The Master gestured to behind the Doctor. "There is nothing there."

He listened carefully, intently; though his yellow eyes are narrowed and suspicious - if he had hackles, they might've been raised. Instead, he remained simply on guard and a tad wary.

"I'm in no park, my dear Doctor. This is a savanna. Over there," he gestured to his side, "is a column of fire. Over there," he gestured again, "is a sort of sand dune."

The Doctor's frown deepened, and he may have looked back, but he was too wary for that. Instead, he listened intently, and shook his head.

"That," he countered with a wave of his hand, "is a tree, and that," again, gesturing to the very same place as the Master, "is a bush."

My, this was intriguing.

He furrowed his brow. The Doctor was on his planet, and yet for some reason, he wasn't. That wasn't possible. The Astral Plane itself made enough sense, in that they were both going to a common locale, but this- he hadn't even left and suddenly the Doctor had appeared!

Slowly, he pointed towards Bali. "That, my dear Doctor, is Bali. Can you see her?"

The cheetah perked up at the mention of her name.

The Doctor stepped closer, peering at the spot the Master indicated, before finally looking back at him.

"No. I cannot. Can she see me?"

He quickly turned to Bali. "Bali, come here a moment."

To him, she nodded quickly and was instantly at her side. He carefully directed her gaze towards the Doctor.

"Now, tell me. Can you see that man there?"

She shook her head.

"... No. She can't."

His gaze followed what he assumed Bali's path was, but no grass was crushed underfoot, there was no change in the air.

"Does she know about the Astral Plane?"

Again he asked her the question and was granted a negative reply.

"No."

He placed his hands on his hips.

"This wasn't what I had originally intended to test with Bali, but my, aren't we learning things."

"We certainly are," he murmured.

"What was it you'd planned?"

"It had to do with -"

He furrows his brow again and looks towards Bali.

"Bali, go set that on fire and then bring it here a moment." The Master turns his attention to the Doctor. "In general, this is similar. It was based on things we could see - I had been told some business of items and such not being visible to others..."

Bali returned and he promptly snatched the lit branch from her hands. Of course, to the Doctor, it just looked like a flaming branch appeared from now where in the Master's hands.

"Can you see this?"

The Doctor waited patiently, eyes widening when the Master was suddenly holding something.

"I do, yes." A pause.

"Of course, London has those as well..."

Carefully, he knelt down, and plucked a flower.

Presenting it to the Master, "What do you see?"

"A flower."

One that appeared from no where - as to him it, of course, looked like the Doctor had simply made one exist from the savanna grass underfoot.

"We can't see them unless we're holding them, then."

The Doctor nodded, slowly.

"We seem to be..." He rose, handing the flower the the Master.

"Humour me."

The Master understood, and took the flower - and it didn't disappear. It was there, which he sort of stared at it in momentary confusion before handing his own branch of fire to the Doctor.

"Interesting."
