[Action for Violet City]

[Not long after they get in, Athrun seats himself in front of the computer in the Pokémon Center. First, he opens up an Internet browser and begins running a series of searches. However, it doesn't seem like any results he was looking for are popping up.]

...Figures.

[Eventually, he closes the browser and pulls something ( Read more... )

My teammate said Ecruteak was like Kyoto. That's about all I know. I've only been here two weeks.

I'm good with computer programming. [For a fourteen year old. But at least he should be able to recognize if he knows the language.]

That's the impression I got, too, though the most I've seen of Kyoto has been in pictures. I wouldn't know what region of Japan it lies in.

All right, give me a few seconds. I took a screenshot of the program I was looking at.

[His Gear will get an image file -- the screenshot in question. The coding is unrecognizable.]

Kansai. [same as Osaka.]

[He stares at it for a few minutes. Some parts look familiar, but not quite right. Some parts look totally alien.] Yeah...I've got nothing. Where'd you get it from?

Kansai...

[He says it aloud to help ingrain it into his memory. At least that's potentially one mystery solved.]

Goldenrod City's department store sells a type of item they call a "Dubious Disc." I wanted to see if I could figure out what kind of program it runs, but when I examined the code...that's what I got.

...That is weird. Although I guess putting it in a normal language would be to simple.

I'd say that depends on your definition of a normal programming language. The primary language used in Johto is Java, but Java is extremely old in my world. But this language is nothing compared to even what I'm used to.

True. Java is pretty common in my world. So is this disc the only one that uses this language? And what is it supposed to do in the first place?

Supposedly it makes a Porygon2 evolve when traded while holding it. But I'm not sure what it evolves into.

Strange...what's a Porygon2?

It's a Pokémon comprised entirely of programming code. It itself is an evolution of Porygon.

That actually sounds kind of awesome. And that might explain the different coding. It would make sense that it would have a unique code just for the Pokémon.

Not entirely. I was able to decipher enough of the coding in the Up-Grade to figure out what it did before I used it to evolve my Porygon.

That's odd. I would have figured that I'd be the same.

It depends on what you're trying to do. When I looked at the coding on the Up-Grade, I could at least tell that it would strengthen the Pokémon and streamline it.

So are you going to use it if you can't figure out what it does? Because I'm not sure I'd trust something called a "Dubious Disc."

That depends. If I feel I need to make Striker stronger in order to stand a chance against the Elite Four, then I will. If not, then I'll continue to try to crack this until I know what will happen.
