you suddenly complete me...
So much has happened in the last few days I still find myself trying to wrap my head around it all. Jess & I headed to Minneapolis on Wednesday...we checked into our hotel around 3:30. We went to the Ladytron/Faint show Thursday...and left early. Ladytron sounded AMAZING...the fellow concert-goers...did not. They kept talking over the music and every single one of them had multiple drinks in hand. We got a text from our friend Adam that the Iowa Supreme Court would be announcing their decision in the same-sex marriage case the next day...Friday, as in the day BEFORE we were coming home. Needless to say we were really excited and disappointed at the same time. I really wish we would have been here.
Anyway, the outcome is awesome and nothing less than I would have expected from our Supreme Court...because I did my research and felt extremely confident about the justices and their track records. So we're getting married the day they finalize the ruling and everything: April 24th. Neither one of us thought we'd ever get married in April, that's for sure. But it'll be at City Hall. Jess will be calling judges tomorrow and making an appointment. We aren't really inviting any family except for my mom and maybe Jess's mom. We want our friends to come though, because our friends really are our family more than anyone else. No one in my extended family understands or supports me, but they will get announcements mailed to their houses. We'll eventually have a party/reception to celebrate with everyone and details will be forthcoming about that.
In other news, I finally got my hands on the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album and it's AMAZING...I tell you the first inkling of their tour schedule I will be buying tickets to SOMEWHERE. I swear it's the best album of the year so far and probably will be when all is said and done. They really stuck their fingers in the light socket for this one and they deserve every bit of acclaim and recognition they get. So everyone get out and buy it!
