Oh no! Jor-el is really too powerful!
Oh no! There is a lot of Kryptonite (oh, and it seems to effect humans)
Oh no! They aren't being true to the comics!
Let me explain something, folks. No Superman movie, show, radio program, or even comic has been true to the Superman comic. Kryptonite didn't used to exist - it was invented to cover a scheduling problem on a radio show. Since then, over 15 different kinds have been found or concocted.
Smallville is just another reinterpretation of the franchise. DC stamps and approves it, so whatever they do on the show is fine for its own universe.
So yes, Jor-El is powerful here, and Lois has seen him too early. Then again, Lois is the most galactically stupid woman known to mankind in every version of Supe because she is an INVESTIGATIVE reporter and can't figure it out.
And yes, Pa Kent is gone. He was also gone in the movies, but then not others.
Who cares, anyway? That's what comics do. They change to stay fresh, just like Madonna and the Bible. If they didn't, we wouldn't know it at all. Nobody would know who Madonna is without her 10 or so life changes, The Bible would be old news without that new testament, and Superman would be a guy who can't fly and has no real weakness to speak of.
If you can't let it go, then you probably can't enjoy it. If you can't enjoy it, then don't watch it. It's truly that simple.
