omg the pizza as a vegetable thing hurts me. I thought it was ridiculous enough that ketchup used to be considered a vegetable for school lunches. But pizza? PIZZA? um.
I also got this in my e-mail earlier today. I signed up for the newsletter on one of the petition sites:
"Now-- get this-- they're telling Congress it's a "jobs" bill.
This is dangerous. Everyone in Congress is desperate to do something to create jobs. Now the most powerful lobbies in Washington are banging down their doors, saying "this is your (only) chance to pass a jobs bill."
There's also a bit about PIPA, SOPA's little brother in the Senate, and information about a call-in day to mass bombard Congress once they return from holiday. (Here. Planned day is Tuesday.)
The absurdity of saying it's a job-creating bill is that everyone already knows it's a job-destroying bill, as neatly summarized here. So I don't know how effective that attempt of theirs to re-characterize it will be. But it does drive me absolutely crazy that the most powerful lobbyists in our government are major media companies (followed closely by churches).
WYDEN IS BADASS. Seriously, this is such an amazing idea of his, and such a great way to spread awareness of this stupid bill. He knows the power of the internets, clearly.
