Awh, Burnie liked my art. I feel all happy now.

In other news, yes, everyone by now has heard about our latest winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. I, like many others, was quite confused by this initially, until I read more into what the prize is about and why the committee believed Obama deserved it. For those who are still unsure, go here and here. ( Read more... )

Re: Obama, first I've heard of it.

Re: Ramadan open-house, that I totally knew about. It would be hard to miss the sign when I walked past it every day going to the bus stop, and drove past it whenever we left the complex in Jarvis. And we could smell the food. ...I dunno, I guess we felt shy and not quite willing to believe it was open open? Obviously we needed you to drag us in there, but of course none of us ever said, "Hey Lauren, the mosque's doing Ramadan, which we're thinking of not going to." Oh well.

And holy crap wow, that has got to be the oldest quiz meme I've ever seen, I've seen that one so many times. I know I've done it at least once within the past year, I'm sure it's in my LJ somewhere....

Really? Huh. I heard about it here on my flist when I got up this morning, then on the radio while driving to work, and then everyone at work was talking about it, and then I got back and it was even more all over my flist. Anyway. Yes. Obama wins peace prize 2009, woo! A little bit wtf but mostly just cool.

And yes, the meme is ancient, but somehow I escaped ever doing it until Clandon went along and posted it today. I know I've seen it crop up before though.

You're the only person on my flist to mention it, and I guess I wake up earlier than you. I don't listen to the radio. Um. I guess everyone I work with is as much a bubbleite as me?

Well now I have to know when you wake up. :p Just as a matter of... curiosity? I don't even know. XD

You should read/watch his acceptance speech, it is kind of awesome.

Currently? 6:35.

...OOH! Yes, I should! I'm always up for an Obama speech! :DD I'll get right on that, after I watch Thursday's Daily Show. ...Now, I'm looking forward to Monday's show, as well as Colbert Report. Honestly, how am I supposed to know how to process important world events unless Stewart and Colbert tell me?

... Yuck. That sucks.

Haha, yeah, it's a shame the Nobel was awarded on a Friday! Stewart and Colbert won't get to talk about it until Monday! Clearly this is all part of the clever plot by politicians to prevent news like this from coming out at a useful time for the Daily Show and the Colbert Report.

Yeah, how much does it blow that I have to leave the house an hour and a half before my shift starts? This is why I'm trying to change my shift so I can carpool with Nice Lady from the claims department. I'm kinda over wasting so much of my life on buses and trains.

Seriously! Every time something important happens, it's a Friday. They totally do it on purpose.
