Soul looks like a melted candle in the keyhole picture....
Soul just EATS the red guy??????? That's a GREAT way to resolve the black blood problem. He should've done that in the first place!! Another thing that is bothering me. Soul is in a suit, so why isn't Maka wearing the black dress? LAME.
As for Kid... SANZU LINES!!!!!! interesting use of them....though it just looks like a powered up death cannon. But at least it showed up??
and ummm...the last pics there...the Kishin is about to molest Maka and then I see what looks like an extremely badass demon-hunter...looks interesting :D
I guess the writers didn't think of using the dress for the look of the thing.
Plus, it's significant thematically, being made of black blood. But then by this point I'm not expecting them to follow through with much more of Okubo's imagery; they've adapted enough as it is.
I'm interested to see how they explain the Sanzu Lines in this episode. The look of Soul and Maka makes me think that she's meant to be to Soul what Marie is to Stein. Only with less crazy.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
They don't.
(But then again, do they really need to? Asura's all like, "ho shit Sanzu lines," and the rest - that it's LIMIT BREAK SHINIGAMI POWAH - is kind of obvious from context.)
It sucks! I want explanations! like, Soul and the Imp....why are they able to ingest each other?????? were they always able to do that? Seems like just a quick and cheap way to tie loose ends. And Soul, after he is eaten, gets placed in a box for Maka to find him? hmmm
And the kishin....dang don't even get me started. None of this makes sense.
Soul and the Imp....why are they able to ingest each other?Well, I have a theory about that, but (a) I don't know if I'm right, and (b) I don't think the anime is going to come right out and say it, even if I am right
( ... )
Well, a lot of things don't make sense in the anime since many episodes back, explanation? huh, that's the way they want to end up the story, honestly, I LOL'D at Soul eating the imp..., somehow the whole thing about that furniture in the room, the box, and the giant and small imp made me think of Alice in Wonderland
looks like Maka is gonna come with a PLOT ARMOR now ://
And Soul, after he is eaten, gets placed in a box for Maka to find him? hmmm
They explained this, actually:
Soul did that to himself. When he sensed himself being consumed by the demon, he walled off a part of his true Soul, and that was the part of himself that ended up both trapped and protected in the box. So he catch-22'd himself. But anyway, that was why the demon wanted Maka to open the box - so that he could consume the last part of Soul that was hidden in there - and why Soul didn't want Maka to open the box.
As for why they were able to eat each other, the demon explains that too: They're a part of each other, and basically inseperable. The eating is just symbolic - it determines who "wins" the battle for control over their shared soul.
Black Dress-less Maka answer...jigokuhana89March 24 2009, 00:16:10 UTC
(For those of you complaining about Maka's lack of her black dress.)
Even though I would've loved to have seen Maka in her dress again, the reason she was wearing her normal outfit is cause that was the outfit she was wearing when she first met Soul. It only makes sense she should wear that in a place that looks like where they first met. ^_^

Really? I actually haven't seen the episode yet, but I guess that would make sense. Although.....I think that Soul only wears that suit in the black room, right? When they first met (at least, in the anime) he was just wearing a regular suit. I think. I don't remember.

You know, I was trying to decide what it reminded me of the entire episode. and that's totally it D: WHY DID IT TAKE ME SO LONG.
& I agree with the dress thing. Very lame indeed.

I find the scene a rather sweet one.
