Turned out almost but not quite what I intended. Will give it another try later.
As usual, 107% historically accurate.
Some cool descriptions:
James M. Merill (William Tecumseh Sherman): "Despite his West Point training, he has as great a disregard for his personal appearance as he had for what others said of him. He was manly but not handsome. Standing nearly six feet in height, he was thin and muscular and there were slight traces of wrinkles now on his face, even though he was only in his thirties. He had thick, sand-red hair, closely trimmed. His dark brown eyes were restless, sharp, and expressive."
David J. Eicher (The Longest Night): "General Sherman is the most American looking man I ever saw," observed Maj. John Chipman Gray, a Federal staff officer, "tall and lank, not very erect, with hair like a thatch, which he rubs up with his hands, a rusty beard trimmed close, a wrinkled face, sharp, prominent, red nose, small, bright eyes, coarse red hands; black felt hat slouched over the eyes." "He impresses me as a man of power more than any man I can remember," concluded Maj. Henry Hitchcock, an assistant adjutant general on Sherman's staff. "Not general intellectual power, not Websterian, but the sort of power which a flash of lightning suggests,-as clear, as intense, and as rapid.""
Re the artwork, for some reason, I am becoming unconsciously influenced by the tf2chan artist prawnsy, despite the fact that I didn't think I was that much of a fan. Check her out. The fact that she draws nude Soldiers helps. (Oh, and check out KiloMonster, another Soldier artist dear to my heart). Apart from that.. It's basically my standard cartoon style drawn from a bunch of different influences here and there. You can argue it's (what I call) par-traced, but I CARTOONISED IT--THIS JUSTIFIES EVERYTHING.
I'm enjoying my new crisp layout. Got the code off
scholarslayouts , made the header myself.
Breaking Bad season 3 (thank you Gonzo) is over (sadly). Can't wait for season 4 to see if Jesse really did shoot Gale! Vince Gilligan is being cheeky about the ambiguity of it. Jesse deliberately turned the gun a few inches to his right which leads me to believe that he missed -- but on the other hand, never underestimate Breaking Bad's ability to pull unexpected surprises.
So busy watching season 3 Big Bang Theory for the moment (yes, the sitcom with the nauseating introduction and the overused laugh track). But they should get rid of Leonard and Penny and just made it a triple bromance between Raj, Howard and Sheldon imo. Actually, on second thoughts, just ditch Penny. I cringe at how she flaunts her stupidity to everyone and only has one facial expression: a blank look. Newsflash: STUPIDITY IS NOT SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF. FOR FUCK'S SAKE It's why I hate Agent Booth in Bones. It's why I hate the cast of True Blood, Gossip Girl or... well, most dramas. I suppose they include stupid characters in tv shows so the common, everyday watcher can identify with them.
On an unrelated note, I was amused to see Sheldon is interested in the Civil War. For e.g. there was one episode about the gang re-enacting Gettysburg with condiment bottles standing in for Bobby Lee, the Illinois cavalry, and Godzilla. And he has impressive business and law knowledge (not to mention his science). He is an awesome character who definitely reminds me of the theoretical physicist that I know irl. Actually, that may not be good.
The fact is that supercilious renaissance men (on the screen) will always give me a figurative hard on.
Masterchef Australia is keeping me entertained. There were forum complaints about the molecular gastronomy episode being way too left field, but I enjoyed it (being a Homaro Cantu fan. Liquid nitrogen is the bomb). They've been whittled down to the final eight now. It's a joke that Callum is still there; hope he gets eliminated next. My best guess is that Adam, Jonno and Marion will be top 3 and Marion vs one of the boys will be the finale. Marion FTW!
Oh, and there's World Cup Soccer (NOT football). I can't be bothered watching unless it's the semi-finals/finals. No chance for Australia make your time; as for South Korea, I don't think there's a chance for them either, but I'm indifferent either way.
CommLaw is so boring I can't wait for the exam to be over. At the same time I'm wondering what I'll do with myself in the 5.5 weeks of holiday. Kind of depressing.
P.S. I need to stop overusing parentheses. Dear me I really have fallen into a bad habit there.
