"Thank you"

Jan 27, 2007 20:02

I'm trying to lean how to say 'thank you' in as many languages as possible, because I think it's an interesting thing to know.

So far I've got:

American Sign Language- *hand placed at lips, palm towards you, and move it towards the person you're thanking with a smile. can be with two hands* video
Arabic- Shukran
Aurënfaie- Chypta
Chinese- Xie xie
Dutch- Dank u
English- Thank you
Esperanto- Dankon
French- Merci
Fukkien (Chinese dialect)- Gam xia
German- Danke
Hebrew- Toda
Hindi- Dhanyawaad
Korean- Kamsamnida
Sindarin Elvish- Hannon le
Spanish- Gracias
Italian- Grazie
Japanese- Arigatou
Portugese- Obrigado
Serbian- Hvala
Urdu- Shukriyaa

If anyone knows any more ways of saying 'thank you' I'd love to learn them!

ETA: Thank you to bloodied_tears, lilian_cho, jade1x2, wicked_danu, taishutsukitai, kuhori_rei, and wowitsleora for contributions!
