I wandered out of the Indiana Jones movie for about 30 minutes, just after the scenes that were supposed to take place at Nazca. I couldn't deal with having a film do a dickdance all over the history and meaning of that site. It was bad enough when Von Daniken came out with his "Chariots of the Gods" bullshit in the 1970's, which tried to say that Nazca was a spaceport for ancient astronauts, and the Nazca lines were really something like a network of runways. Balderdash!
Also, I never want to see that Shia what's-his-name kid again. Especially not if he's trying to act like Marlon Brando.
The UFO liftoff near the end of the film was pretty cool, but just about everything leading up to it was ludicrous. Why did the chamber where the aliens were seated have a door on it that could only be unlocked with one of their skulls? Wasn't the skull stolen from that very chamber? How did the thief originally get inside without having a skull already in his hand?
And don't even get me started on all that "magnetism" bullshit. Coins go flying, but belt buckles stay put? The greaser's National Honor Society pin didn't even try to pop out of his lapel, for Chrissake. >.>
Baaaaaah! Raiders was ten times better, and Temple of Doom was five times more fun!
