Every Judas Loved His Jesus by Croik

Rating: M (Mature)

I really don't know what to say here. This is one of the most incredible stories I've read in a very long time. It made me laugh, sigh, cheer and cry. It brought me to new highs, and dangerously deep lows. It made me laugh, and it made me weep. It excited me, brightened my day, and then broke me. My heart shattered for Loki in this story, and it hurts in a way that only someone with extraordinary skill and emotive talent can make you hurt with their writing.

Once you start reading this story you simply cannot stop. You feel compelled to hang on, to read just a little bit more: one more word, line, chapter, until you're severely sleep deprived and hanging on every single word, reading and reading lines with a desperate intensity because you cannot imagine leaving these carefully crafted words behind and forgetting this story for even a moment. It creeps and crawls beneath your skin until all you can see are the characters. Living, loving, losing.

Title: Every Judas Loved His Jesus
          Author: Croik
          Fandom: Avengers / Thor
          Status: Complete
          Word Count: 129,718
          Summary:

This is not a story of how Loki and Steve fall in love. This is Loki and Steve, abandoned in a world they didn't ask for, alone, with nothing to connect them to any thing or person on the planet except for the one thing they have in common: Loki's blood, a Jotun's blood, that once served as the basis for Dr. Erskine's miraculous super-soldier serum and protected Steve through seventy years of ice. This is Loki, hiding his weakness and uncertainty with every lie at his disposal, desperate for purpose, and Steve, just naive enough to fall for the smile of a beautiful woman. It's not love, but it's a lie worth fighting for, up until Loki ends up pregnant, devastates SHIELD headquarters, and makes off with the Tesseract, determined to make his child Midgard's new god. As the tentative captain of Earth's not-yet-mighty Avengers, Steve choses the side of humanity, without giving up hope that he can save Loki from himself and the too-powerful magic of Odin's lost treasure.

This is not just a story, this is an experience you will never forget.

Hugs,

~Shi-koi~
