As you can tell, I have a real weakness for time travel fics, especially when they fix a bad event, like Qui-Gon's death on Naboo.

Six months after Qui-Gon's death, Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi has taken Anakin as his padawan learner, but he's barely living, barely a teacher, barely surviving. Obi-wan is living each day weighted under sorrow, and one day, thanks to an accident, everything changes.

Obi-Wan finds himself in the past; a past where Qui-Gon is young and free and oh so alive. Of course Obi-Wan doesn't waste a moment, and he goes about trying his best to fix things so that Qui-Gon will never fall to the blow which took his life - falling in love with Qui-Gon all over again, and relishing in the love Qui-Gon returns.

When he returns to the present, things are not well. Qui-Gon is alive and well, yes, but he's estranged from the Council - and from Obi-Wan...

Title: In My End Is My Beginning
          Author: Lilith Sedai
          Fandom: Star Wars
          Status: Complete
          Size: 126k
Summary: Obi-Wan goes back in time and fixes a crucial omission in Qui-Gon's training.

'In My End Is My Beginning' is an incredible story. The first time I read it, years and years ago, it resonated with me. We've all wished we could have fixed our past mistakes, but we don't truly know what our lives would be like without them. This story, even though it has a happy-ish ending, shows that fixing a mistake - or indeed, even saving a life, does not mean that everything will be sunshine and flowers. Obi-Wan has to deal with a future in which Qui-Gon's life is perfect, whilst his own is falling apart, and it's so sad and heart-breaking and just wrong, until Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon accidentally meet, and things are forcibly changed.

The pain in this story is well shared with us, emotively, strongly and with no holds barred, and when things change for the better, there's the distinct feel of a massive weight being lifted when you read it.
Hugs,
