I have a massive weakness for FFVII fics, time-travel ones in particular. No matter where the fandoms I come across take me, I can guarantee that when I get bored of looking for a new story to read that is long, funny, entertaining or simply interesting, I will inevitably end up back in the FFVII fandom.
This story is one of my favourite time-travel fics in the FFVII fandom, simply because you cannot help but smile, laugh and sometimes giggle as you read it. I have quite a few other firm favourites, but sometimes, I just want to be cheered up and to lose myself in a wonderfully written story that pulls you in, brightens your day up, and sates your need to be entertained.
'Once More, With Feeling' by Illusor Meaneld is extremely well-written. It's constantly moving, evolving and the way the characters interact is simply brilliant! Unlike quite a number of other FFVII time-travel fics, the time-travel and Cloud's actions are very much a background story for him. He doesn't really have much of a mission, and the story from his point of view seems to be that of an individual who simply wants to enjoy his life a bit more than he had the first time around.
The hook that drags you in comes from the other characters. Cloud is acting oddly for a boy of fourteen and that makes people suspicious. From Tseng's theory of Cloud being a spy, to Sephiroth's theory of Cloud being a book genius, to Genesis believing Cloud's had a brain transplant, everyone seems to have their own theory of why Cloud is the way he is - and that makes for tremendously fun reading!
