The first set is not new, indeed, I just played with them so you have probably seen some of these. I had to post them because he would not have forgiven me writing about feathered goodness and excluding him from the rendezvous.

As I written in my previous entry, I am taking care of the birds of my friend who is currently on vacation and I absolutely love how this house suddenly became full of life. Not that it is not otherwise (try to share the space with overly nosy and overly talkative parrot who always has his opinion about anything and makes sure you know that), but I am fascinated by parrots to pieces and more exemplars means always more joy. So temporarily, our parroty family counts four heads.

Rebbel, a wild-caught Timneh African Grey who has been in captivity for 25 years before he came to my friend as a bad plucker and the most aggressive parrot he had ever seen. He is doing fine now, entirely tame (yet still having that shy and somewhat distant attitude that is a Greys nature), whistling, talking a few words. He still plucks his feathers when presented to stress situations, but that just needs time.
Loritha 'Granny' the wild-caught Yellow-Crowned Amazon who lived sixty years in captivity. Again, my friend got her because she was biting her former owners. Now as sweet as ever, and I am absolutely in love with her.
Finally Mr. T, the other Timneh African Grey of unknown age, wild-caught. He is not tame and my friends took him in with the purpose of taming him and rehoming him to good owners where he could stay for the rest of his life. He takes food from your hand, but is very uncertain and refuses to step up, even on a perch or a step-up rope.

They are all awesome. After the getting-familiar stage of the first day, they seem to quite enjoy themselves, to my endless relief.

It is too funny to come downstairs and see not one, but two same Timneh heads turn into your direction. Something about it makes me giggle like mad even when I just think of them. They do everything together; where Rebbel goes, Mr. T follows. They sleep and sit next to each other and always perch both on the same foot. They sit on the left feet, right buried in the tummy fluffiness, then change and sit both on their rights. Repeat. They started to say words and make sounds my friend never heard them say and never taught them so you can imagine how surprised he was when I told him. And he was surprised when I described him how Granny enjoyed the bath, because with being 60 she is pretty much indifferent towards most things and never really gets excited. Except for the times I interact with her, and the last time I misted them. You can imagine with what pride it fills me, the more that he is the expert in healing hurt parrot souls and I care very much for him and his opinions, so I would love to show him I can take care of a parrot, to prove him that I am worthy of his trust he put in me by asking me to take care of them. The Greys talk mostly with each other, while Loritha talks with me. I believe she has developed some affection towards me as well, lol. First, she did not really want to step up because she is so tired, it seems, and wants to be let alone, but when she started talking to me, I took her out of the cage and we spent some time talking with each other, having immense fun. She got really excited about it, like only an Amazon can. Since that moment, I only have to put my hand in the cage and she already hops to me and gropes with her foot to grab my finger and step up. Once she manages (and I give in, lol), she stays with me as glued to my hand and wants to go everywhere I go and see whatever I am doing. Try not to let her steal your heart, then !

I am going to miss them horribly when they go back. My friend returns this Saturday and will probably pick them up Sunday evening.

(The Grey yumminess. Mr. T in front, Rebbel behind, snacking from the piece of tomato he stole from Mr. T. He loves vegetables and fruits so much it is almost nonGreyish)

(Rebbel and the only true and real Grey joy of bathing)

And the old lady :
