Phone woes

On October 27th, my phone went in for repairs. A fortnight later, I had a missed call from a number I didn't recognise, so I didn't call it back.

Today, I went in to the Carphone Warehouse to see what was going on. I was told my phone had come back a fortnight after I sent it in, and they'd "tried to contact me twice". I could see the piece of paper. They'd tried once in early november, then not again for a month after that - when they'd got an engaged tone. And to make things worse, the phone couldn't be repaired, was no longer stocked by Sony and they were offering me distinctly sub-parr replacements, which were also no longer stocked widely.

Given the day I'd had up to that point, and they'd kept me in the shop for the better part of an hour with two fraxious kids who were late for their lunch and likely to be late for Nursery, I bit my tongue, left and went to calm down.

Cue arriving back in the shop about 2 hours later, full of sugar and with a sleeping Ben. I'd calmed down, and thought things through, and went in with a mission. The chaps there are usually very nice and helpful, and today they bent over backwards once I was no longer trying to kill them verbally (and I brought them doughnuts). My wonderful, beautiful and perfect little phone is no more. I have to live with this. What I have coming as a replacement (they gave me three options) is a Samsung Galaxy Pro. The reviews online aren't great (from a business users point of view) but so long as it isn't awful it'll do me. I don't need it to do somersaults, just be able to walk. They even said they'll see what they can do as a replacement case for it, as my expensive leather one will be too small for this new phone.

On the upside? They gave me the shop dummy version of the Xperia Mini Pro for Eleanor. So she can finally use the phone I forbade her to use for the last year...

I will miss my phone. I spent a long time looking for it, and it was perfect. I hate touch-screen keyboards, and blackberries are, in general, too small on the keys. Hopefully when it comes the time to upgrade on my contract, I shall be able to find something similarly perfect again...
