Kyuubi bunny #2 came about after reading yet another "nice"!Kyuubi fic. Y'know, there's a lot of fanfic where Kyuubi is Naruto's ally. It's not unusual for Kyuubi to be depicted as a female, who can use a human form, and who may become a romantic interest for Naruto. She may not always be actually nice, but she's certainly not evil. She has a "

Danzo would try to make him into a weapon, but then realize that the little kid is already better than his Ne operatives and he's also so emotional. (Damn the Sarutobi for being right all the time! Minato, Kakashi, Itachi, Naruto...) It wouldn't make him change his mind about training people, but it would help give the old bastard a second opinion XD
I'd like to give him control over fire, like Gaara has over sand, but it's so bad!fic~ XD
I don't see Naruto being jounin at the chuunin exams, but tokojo, sure. I'm thinking his specialty would be something to do with ninjutsu creation or sealing. I mean, Kyuubi would teach him all about his mother and father, the ninjutsu that then knew (all of Kushina's nin techniques would be obviously easy for it to know) and being under the seal for about seventy years - inside one seal master and a woman married to a seal master no less - Kyuubi would have learned a little something (or a lot LOL) about sealing.
Naruto would totally update the seals around Konoha from ages eight to thirteen and then when Orochimaru appears in the last part of the exam, Naruto, as ANBU(?) would be able to reconstruct the Sound Four's shield and get the ANBU inside to help Sarutobi.
.... yeah. Just, you know, an idea off the top of my head XD
I suppose that after that is when he gets to know the Rookies better. Probably it'd start with Shikamaru and Sasuke. Shika because he's really fucking smart and Sasuke because he'd be the one to unravel the Curse Seal and fuck Orochimaru's plans for the boy to high heaven. Because he'd make friends with Shika, he'd get Ino and Chou by proxy.
(Sudden thought, I have no idea who'd fill Naruto's place on Kakashi's team and don't want it to be Sai. Too many people make it Sai. But then again... If Danzo has figured out that maybe it's not bad to have an agent with emotions, he could put Sai on a regular genin team to learn about emotions... *shakes head* This is getting more and more bad!fic XD)
So Team Ten would be friends and Team Seven would be aquentiences. I don't imagine that Sasuke would want to have much to do with a thirteen year old tokojo because that's even worse than his brother was. Itachi had only been chuunin... And Sai would see Naruto as his superior. And I don't know about Sakura. Maybe if she wasn't fangirling she could see how Naruto's job could be interesting and figure out how smart you'd actually have to be to break down and recreate jutsu. She might actually be interested in something like that, instead of medical jutsu.
I'm not sure about Team Eight. Not yet. I'm sure that I'll figure something out XD

This is so awesome. I'd so totally love to read this fic. Sure, it does sound like it has the potential to turn into bad!fic, but that usually depends on how it's written, doesn't it? And. Besides. Even if it did veer in that direction. It would be ridiculously entertaining bad!fic.
Hmmm. I think maybe Sasuke would develop a very complicated one-sided relationship with Naruto. After all, he's trying to surpass Itachi, and here is a boy who, in a way, did surpass Itachi.
Also, wouldn't Sarutobi want to encourage Naruto in "making friends" his own age? To provide some stability and companionship, and also, because the Rookies are future leader and clan heads and will most likely have to work with Naruto anyway, so it would be better if their cordial relationship got an early start... ah, I dunno.
You do such a good job plotting I'm tempted to simply sit at your feet and ask for more. XD

Hatake Kakashi watched from his concealed position as his sensei's very young son sat in the middle of his single bed, rocking back and forth, eyes blank. He didn't know what was going on, but it worried him. The boy was too young to be having flashbacks and hadn't been seen having something like this before. Kakashi wondered if it Naruto would even notice if he stepped into the room.
Kakashi had seen something like this before, but it had been in a hospital after severe trauma to the brain. A vegetative state where his comrade had been awake but nonresponsive. The shinobi who'd been injured hadn't ever 'woken up', falling silently into a coma and then slowly into death.
Kakashi didn't want anything like that to happen to Naruto.
Not Naruto.
But Naruto wasn't injured, was he? No, he wasn't. Kakashi couldn't smell any blood and if the boy had been injured the Hokage would have instigated an enquiry. The orphanage didn't want to happen. So for as much as the workers in the building ignored poor Naruto, they never harmed him, nor let him come to serious harm.
.o0o.
Naruto cocked his head at the woman siting beside him. Her long fiery red and orange hair cascaded down her back and over her shoulders and she had more red than purple eyes. "Kaa-chan?" He mumbled out in question. He was a smart toddler. He knew what a mother was and he was pretty sure that the pretty lady that he'd always known was his mother.
The woman looked at him with a sad expression on her face, "No, child. You're mother was Kushina-san." She paused and then smiled, still a little sad, "I miss her. She was vibrant and beautiful. Life with Kushina-san was exciting. No, I am not your mother," she continued, "-but you may call me Hisa, if you so wish."
The woman, Hisa, had chosen that human name because it meant enduring, lasting, and sustaining. As she was something not created, nor something that could be killed, she thought it was rather fitting.
As she hadn't wanted to confuse the small child (as she had with Kushina in the beginning) she'd decided to remain in one unchanging form instead of three or four or more. As Kushina had grown up with the ever changing Eri, instead of the constant Hisa, in her mind, she'd become more and more scattered and unpredictable. Hisa was sure that having one constant being looking out for Naruto would be better for the formation of his brain as he grew than looking for someone he didn't know every time he visited his inner world where she resided.
"Hisa-chan?" The toddler wobbled his way to his feet and stumbled to her. She caught him easily and settled the boy on her lap.
"Yes, Naruto-chan, I am Hisa-chan."
.o0o.
As much as she was in a prison, having her wallow in a sewer was a bit much. Gently she pulled the three year old to herself and settled the boy on her hip. "Naruto-chan, can you close your eyes for me? Please?"
"Yes, Hisa-chan," Naruto screwed his eyes tightly closed and she pet his wild hair.
"Keep your eyes close, okay, Naruto-chan?" Naruto nodded against her shoulder and so she started to talk. "It would be lovely if we could have a picnic, don't you think?" Naruto nodded again. "But we'd need to have some sunshine, and green grass. Can you think of somewhere that has lots of green grass, Naruto-chan?"
Slowly the sewery place that she had lived for three long years started to brighten. "Yes, Hisa-chan," Naruto's face scrunched up and he shrugged, "Is pretty."

"Both!" Naruto exclaimed and Hisa watched as the water drained away form her prison and hills formed, green grass sprouting up and flowers opening, spilling forth beautiful colours. There was no ceiling in her cell, but the darkness passed away and the clouds rolled back and sunlight shone down on Hisa and her little boy, showing a vibrant blue sky with wisps of white clouds at the edges.
The grass under Hisa's feet was warm and she dug her toes into it. Lovely. Just lovely.
She'd have to think of a way to thank her darling Container for this. Kushina had never had such an imagination, nor had Mito. But then again, Mito had been in her twenties when Hisa had been sealed into her and Kushina had been biased again her prisoner by the former Container.
How blessed was Naruto, to have no bias and no fear? Hisa would cherish him.

So how was that as a beginning? Too bad!fic? I was planning on doing a scene from post invasion, and then got caught up in how the Kyuubi and Naruto treat each other XD And so had to write that first LOL And also, there had to be some changes made to Naruto's mindspace so that he would be able to gather and understand information in a more efficient way. Thus lending himself to a 'smarter' Naruto.
Sasuke's relationship with Naruto is always going to be complicated LOL I can't imagine a fic or even a picture of them not being complicated together XD But you are definitely right about how Sasuke is going to see Naruto. As a boy his own age, having already surpassed Itachi. Doing his goal for him. Would Sasuke want to learn from Naruto? Or hate him? Most probably both, but then again, complicated, thy name is Sasuke *snerk*
Sarutobi would indeed encourage the boy into making friends. It would start with Shika, because the others all see this tokubetsu jounin and think that he's too smart and wouldn't want to be friends anyway. (besides Sasuke, of course.) Shika would introduce Naruto to Asuma, Ino, and Chouji during some kind of team meeting. Because Shika can see how lonely the boy is, even if he tries to escape the loneliness with his work and this mysterious Hisa-chan.
... Oh gods. *roflmao*

"Dude's what?" Chouji picked at the BBQ leftovers from Ino's plate as he thrust a thumb over his shoulder at the departing Uzumaki Naruto, "Our age?"
"Yep," Shikamaru nodded and Asuma puffed on a cigarette.
"And he's freaking married."
Asuma choked on the smoke in his lungs and started to cough harshly.
"Sensei?" Ino came around the table and patted the man on the back, "Sensei, are you alright?"
Waving a hand limply, Asuma continued to cough, though with less vigour, "Yeah, yeah. No worries."
"What was that about?" Shikamaru raised an eyebrow at the man and Asuma shrugged, coughing a little more into his hand.
"Well, just. What makes you think that Naruto-san is married?"
"Uh," Chouji glanced to Shikamaru and then shrugged, turning back to their sensei, "The way he was talking about Hisa-san? I mean, we talk that way about our mom's and our dad's talk that way about our mom's, but we don't ever call our own mother's by their given name. I mean, that's not right."
Reply
"Are we wrong?" Chouji asked, popping a bit of meat into his mouth and licking his fingers.
Asuma would have liked to have told his genin (and chuunin, as Shikamaru couldn't be grouped that way anymore) who Hisa actually way, but it was still an S class secret. So he shrugged and didn't deny anything. Let the rumours of Naruto being married get up to his old man. His father needed a little disinformation to shake things up in the office anyway. "I actually couldn't tell you one way or another about Naruto and Hisa. The Uzumaki's relationship is very private and I don't know them well enough to infringe on their lives." Ha. Take that, Old Man, Asuma thought to himself. Since 'Hisa' was housed inside the Uzumaki, 'she' had just as much claim on the Uzumaki name as Naruto did.

I love this beginning. What are you talking about, it's not bad!fic at all.
This may just be my favorite let's-change-the-mindscape scene yet. And I did so enjoy reading your Kyuubi. I really liked the way Hisa spoke of Kushina, and the way she chose to cherish Naruto. The scenes were short, but they give a glimpse into a lovely relationship.
As for Sasuke -- as, Sasuke. Sometimes I think that if nothing like the Uchiha massacre happened, he'd be a much simpler kid, but I suppose then he wouldn't be the Sasuke we know.
And poor Naruto! What with all the other kids not wanting to be friends because he's "too smart" (he never gets a break, does he?) -- kids will be kids I guess, and besides even among adults this happens anyway. And I suppose none of the Rookies are the kind to suck up. Hmmm. They might be a bit jealously impressed, I'd think. But admiration depends heavily on either being personally impressed or on hearing rumors, rather than being confronted with rank. And the Rookies, with the obvious exceptions of Sasuke and Shikamaru, are not yet experienced enough to link rank to capability...
...huh. Asuma calls Naruto "san"? Also, Asuma, you asshole, letting your kids think like that when you know very well Hisa practically raised the kid. ...Does he dislike Naruto?
-- Wait. Waaaaait. People know about Hisa? @__@

I always cringe when I see authors have Naruto change his mindscape through sheer determination and not liking how his mind really looks or whathaveyou. No, I think it would take an awesome strength of will and even greater imagination to change the mindscape. I also believe that it'd take quite a few repeats for Naruto to make his mindscape into something else. We can't just randomly change how we think or why we think it, we have to work hard at it. And so Hisa will probably have to get him to change the view several times before it starts to stick. And then to make Naruto adaptible and better fit to survive, have him make different mindscapes. Maybe she'd make it into some kind of game for him...
She's pretty much the equivilant of Naruto's godmother, given how she feels towards him. He was too small and young for a burden such as her. And she never wanted Kushina or Minato dead, so she'll do the very best that she can to make sure that she doesn't harm him.
Ha. Sasuke was totally a momma's boy before his entire family was slaughtered. What little we see of young Sasuke, I don't think I like at all.
Well, it's not so much that they don't want to be friends, but that they think he doesn't want to be friends. After all, what kind of super smart tokujo wants to be friends with lowly genin? I can see that only Sasuke and Shikamaru would really get how much better Naruto is than the Rookies though.
Well, 'kun' is really too close even though Asuma do kind of like the boy and calling Naruto only be his name is closer still, so 'san' would be the best that he could come up with.
Aww. :( I was trying to make that more of a funny thing, than a mean thing. Since Hisa doesn't actually exist in the physical world, it would be interesting (for us and for Asuma) to see Shikamaru trying to find out more about Hisa.
:DD *smirkysmirks* Yes. Some people do know about Hisa. But not many. Asuma knows because his father is Hokage. Kakashi knows because it's Naruto. Naruto kept talking about Hisa when he was littler and Sarutobi finally got a straight answer about who the woman was. And freaked a little, asking some ANBU to watch over Naruto to make sure that the Kyuubi wasn't unduly influencing the boy. Thus, some shinobi do know. Others just think that Hisa is either an invisible friend, like all children have, or maybe a nin that was asked by Sarutobi to watch out for the boy, a foster mother of sorts.
When in fact, Hisa is kind of Naruto's foster mother :D

But yeah, I like your idea of how mindscape shaping works much, much better.
*headdesk* Sorry! You wrote the others all see this tokubetsu jounin and think that he's too smart and [he]wouldn't want to be friends anyway, but I read the others all see this tokubetsu jounin and think that he's too smart and [they]wouldn't want to be friends anyway. Sometimes I'm slow like that. -__-
Yeah, suddenly this world is much less dark.
And now that I know Asuma doesn't dislike Naruto, the whole thing seems much funnier and not even a little malicious. What threw me was the "san" and Asuma would have liked to have told his genin (...) who Hisa actually way, but it was still an S class secret. It made me pause and automatically assume he was being resentful towards the Kyuubi. (Aaaahh, the bad!fic is contaminating my views, help~~)
And of course little!Naruto would have talked about Hisa. Kids can hardly keep secrets. Yay for Sarutobi freaking out XD
Also, the thought of people thinking that the genius tokubetsu jounin has an invisible friend? XDDDDDD
