here's my interview update!
it was a beautiful tuesday morning in langley when i walked into the doors of this design firm.. let's call them D.O. i got there 15-20 minutes before my time. i think i was a bit early but they just showed me to the "meeting room" where they displayed some samples of their work for me to have a look at. i was pleasantly surprised to see that they have a good mix of small and big clients. they do print, packaging, and some web design as well. pretty exciting stuff! at first i was worried that it would be some really tiny place that only does small-scale projects but it looks like they have more to offer. :)
the people there were super nice. i first met with the creative director and the president of the company. i showed them my work and talked, laughed, and went off-topic here and there.
that part went really well and afterwards, i met the rest of the staff at D.O. because for them, it is critical for the staff to also get to know who they may potentially work with. with them, i presented my work for the 2nd time (although this time, at a much faster pace). we chatted and asked each other questions and they seem like a cool group of people. the place employs 7 people and they're all a bit older (and more experienced) than i am. the whole idea of working for an actual firm scares the CRAP out of me but they look like they won't eat me and make me cry there so... maybe if things work out, i'll be okay.
so after an hour and 45 minutes, i left D.O. happy. they seemed to like the work that i showed them and our personalities also seemed to jive. that's a bonus for me because finding the right fit is really really REALLY important to me.
today, i received a phone call from them. they told me that i made their short list of people. (short..hehe isn't that funny?!) they're at the point where they've narrowed their interviewees down to 3 people and i'm both shocked and of course, happy, that i'm one of those 3! i'm so stoked!!! and nervous!!!!!!!!!!!!! i don't know who the other 2 is... but i'm sure they're strong
competition >.< they asked about my salary expectations (which i have no idea about..i've never had a salary.....) oh and they also asked about my availability.
i should find out if i've got the job by friday at the latest. i'm preparing myself for anything. if i don't get the job offer, i'll take it as it is and i'll be more than happy to try out many other firms out there until i find the right one for me. :) if i do, then i have a whole other whack of stuff to think about since my current work (print place) is offering me a full time position as a production artist... i'm so confused. i want to just burst into tears... *sigh* i guess i'll just take it one day at a time...
thanks for all the good lucks. :))))))
