Exciting news on the homefront! I will be moving at the end of August! I'm pretty well stoked about the idea of finally living alone again. The next roommate I want to have will be my mister. I am too old for this roommate business. I'm ready to come home to a calm, soothing environment. I hate coming home to find Steph & Ry sitting in the living room, watching my tv. It's not that I mind them using the living or using my tv, but our apartment is set up oddly. My bedroom is off the living room & doesn't have an actual door. Just a set of double bi-fold closet doors. And that equals very little privacy for me if there is anyone in the living room. That's actually the reason Steph & I have the rooms we have. I originally had the other room, the one with the real door and the smaller closet. But I liked being in the living room & Steph never used it, so we swapped. But now, I often come home from trips to find the two of them in the living room. And I feel like I'm chasing them out of there. Part of me is indignant. I have every right to tromp through their evening to get to my room and to turn on my music. It's just annoying.
But I won't have to worry about that anymore! My new place is only about two blocks from my current apartment. What can I say? I love my neighborhood. I'll be a little further from my bus stop, but a little closer to downtown. It'll be smaller than my current situation, but it will be ALL MINE! I wish I could move in tomorrow. I've already started decorating it in my head.
These pics are of a similar unit. My kitchen will look like that, but I don't think I'll have the bay effect windows. Also, I think my door will be a little more centered in the wall.
In that last picture, you can just barely see the bathroom. Not pictured is the 4ft x 4ft closet across from the bathroom, which has a clawfoot tub & pedestal sink. There's also a space by the entryway & closet that'll be the perfect spot for my comfy chair & tv. I'll be on the second floor again. No more garden level! And also, no more busy street! My new building is on a street off of my current street, so there won't be as much foot traffic. And my windows will be south-facing, which is awesome because I'll get all kinds of great light! And did you see that great kitchen booth? That comes with the place! I could actually eat at a table if I wanted, like a proper adult! I'm seriously so excited. I have a whole list of things I want to buy for the new place, including a George Foreman grill! Target has them for $15! And they have them in pink! And I'm going to get a proper ironing board! And pretty mixing bowls! And new cutting boards and some better quality pots & pans since mine are all dented. I'll actually feel at home when I come home! It'll just be me & my little baby cat!
So that's my big news!
