This was the right time window, the Doctor told her where to go, and this was it. He had sent her to warn Madame de Pompadour. Ever since she laid eyes on the woman from the other side of that mirror she could only think of one question.
Why her?
Rose didn't say a word at first as she watched the other woman looking up at the stars from her window. Reinette seemed to own and encompass the entire room and all the while seemed lost somewhere in the stars. She wondered how much the Doctor told her, was Reinette thinking of him as she looked out her window. What was so special about her? What was so -
But there was no time for that. There was too little time for almost anything, but she still watched her, not saying a word, not just yet. She wasn't even sure how she was supposed to have this conversation. The Doctor didn't prepare her nearly enough.
Rose walked across the room, her footsteps too loud and not nearly as graceful as she would've liked, and finally Reinette seemed to notice her. She couldn't help but notice Reinette. Maybe that was 'why her.' Rose tried to compose herself quickly. No time for that now.
"Madame de Pompadour."
She seemed to have startled the older woman. It was enough to surprise Rose as well. She hadn't thought that it would be possible for her, Rose Tyler, to have that effect on this woman. It startled her enough that she jumps a bit as well. She took a breath, her hands patting the air gently, trying to be reassuring.
"Please, don't scream or anything, we haven't got a lot of time."
