Well, folks, today is Dad and Mom's anniversary.
They have been married for 21 years.
That's a long time to have been with one person... I mean, I'm not even that old... :-)
It's like you look at the world, and you see these people who are married a week and then dump each other, or even people that have been married for 40 something years and divorce or even kill each other or commit adultery.
It's so sad. Then, I look at my parents and I see them together through good times and bad. I know it has definitely NOT been easy--why I remember a few years ago when we couldn't pay the electric bill and they turned the power off and it was my mom's birthday. THAT was hard. Dad was trying to bless Mom, while also trying to scrape up enough money to feed us and then pay the bills. There were 5 or 6 of us kids then. Now there's 7.
Or even trying to deal with temptations in the world... why the world is vying for our attention, screaming and clawing for us to satiate our sin nature's lusts. But they have stuck together... though not with anything of themselves... they have trusted God and rested in His sovereign will and care for their lives. This is the secret to a happy marriage: God should be the centre of both spouses' lives, and then they will be effectively able to love the other.
SO, Happy Anniversary Dad and Mom, thank you for your example to the entire world and thank you for glorifying God together!!!
