Oh, I love this. I read it on Silverlake and came over here to comment. Normally I'm fairly opposed to the Laura/William idea, but it's played out so well here that it actually makes sense to me. And, of course, fabulous interaction between Lee and Laura.

Maybe it's the bonds of family that make it this way. Maybe she's just tired of fighting for everything in her life.

So much of this story offers a really interesting view into Laura's head, but I particularly liked this little segment; it feels very true to the character.

And that final scene is a killer. Lovely, lovely piece. :)

Thanks! That means a lot--I was afraid Lee/Kara shippers would want my head. I just think there's a lot of different emotions to work with among the four of them, and that's what I was going for here.

This is lovely, the push and pull and tug of everything. I like how you used Laura's point of view to illustrate the relationships.
