So all the Dean and Castiel stuff last night was fantastic. I'm rewatching the extra-happy making bits right now, and OMG, how much did I love the scene where Dean confronts Castiel about thinking for himself? And Castiel comes back with 'you're in so much pain, why is the world worth saving?' (Anybody else reminded of the end of The Fifth Element, when the angel Leeloo says basically the same thing? And how they solved that one?)
After that speech, Castiel can't look Dean in the eyes anymore:
So what does Dean do? He goes after that gaze:
Castiel reluctantly meets his eyes:
And Dean pulls him back to center:
And proceeds to give him the low down:
And Castiel-- Well, Castiel looks like he's had his mind a little blown:
I just love that moment. It's so oddly gentle the way Dean handles him, like trying to get a little kid to meet your eyes when you explain to him that what he did was bad, but he himself isn't bad. Yeah, Dean's a whole hell of a lot pissed off, yet that connection is the key. And Dean seems to know it--and purposefully work it.
Guh.
ETA: One more from when they're at Chuck's:
Chuck: You guys aren't supposed to be in this story.
Castiel: Yeah, well, we're making it up as we go.
Dean: <3 <3 <3
