Cardinal rule of cookery broken tonight: Always check before you start cooking to make sure you have the necessary ingredients--instead of going by what you think you have.

So. Yes. I only had on can of chicken instead of the three necessary for creamed chicken. So dinner wound up being biscuits and gravy, flavored with chicken. And dish soap. (I don't even know. I mean, obviously, I didn't wash the pan well enough, but... *headdesk*)

I used to be able to cook well, I swear it. Ask my husband.

In other news, I finally watched Leverage. All thirteen eps.

It was a lot clunkier than I was expecting, given the general squee I've seen on my flist. And not slashy at all. But, it was entertaining enough to keep watching, and it got better as it went along. As far as caper shows go, I prefer The Invisibles, but I'll probably watch Leverage when it comes back.

Bad: I don't like Nate. I don't know that I dislike him, but yeah, he doesn't do it for me at all. And I don't think it's the alcoholism/emo that's the problem, because when he's sober the not-like is worse.

I find their 'good deeds' to be questionable a lot of the time. I'm all for capers and Robin Hood fun, but often times I'm left with the same sense of "um, no" that a lot of The Pretender's Jarod's schemes left me with. I hated The Miracle Job, for example, which is a shame since D.B. Sweeney was awesomecakes, as usual.

Good: Christian Kane is gorgeous. And Eliot is exactly my type of character. Bad-ass but with that vulnerable sweetness hanging about like a really visible aura. Love him. Hardison is also wonderful. Probably the best character on the show. If I were going to slash, it'd be those two, but alas, there just isn't anything there (yet) to give me impetus to do so.

I could see femslash, on the other hand...

ETA: Oh! Oh! My favorite thing? Hardison is Horde! Yeah, baby. No pansy Alliance for him. *g*

Hmm. I think that's it. Sorry for not being more interesting.

And is anyone out there (besides kagey) watching Free Agents? Anthony Head's latest? I swear, after hearing him say the kind of things he says in that role, I really don't think I'll ever feel shame about anything I write again.
