Drabbles

Nov 06, 2006 22:41

So, ages ago, I offered up drabbles to people who wanted them. I finished them tonight. :) No spoilers, nothing more than PG, I don't think.

For pouncer - NCIS in Atlantis:

"Got something for you, Abs," Tony purrs as he strolls into her lab.

"Ooh, let me see," she says, bouncing over to him with her hands stretched wide. Taking this job was definitely a good move; she's never seen such fascinating stuff on a daily basis.

"Careful," Tony warns, handing over the vial of translucent green goo. "McKay said something about flesh-eating toxin. Or maybe it was radiation."

"Pfft. Rodney needs a giant chill pill." But she double-gloves anyway, just in case.

"Let me know what you find out." Tony grins like a little kid. "I'll be in Jumper 3."

For miera_c - Teyla-centric, perhaps Lorne POV:

He doesn't even see her until his third day in Atlantis.

Lorne's been busy, getting to know Sheppard and the city, but he manages to make the Tuesday night sparring session. He loses track of his conversation with Gunther when she walks in. She's hot, definitely hot, and obviously not from Earth.

Ten minutes later he's lying flat on his back, staring up at her in admiration for a different reason.

"I am Teyla Emmagan." She offers him a hand up. "I am sorry I did not introduce myself before."

"Evan Lorne." He grins, accepting her hand. "That's some introduction."

For rivier - SGA, REM title or lyric:

John's angry about Rodney's attitude with Chaya for two days afterwards-until he glances across the lunch table, still hurt and angry, and meets Rodney's eyes. Rodney looks away, but not before the distance in them hits John like a punch to the gut.

The pieces slot together, then, and while John can so clearly make out the picture, he's dismayed to realize he's thrown away the most important parts. He doesn't say anything when Rodney picks up his tray and stands to leave. But he very much wants to.

John's just not sure how to apologize without giving himself away.

For blacksquirrel - Rodney het or threesome, cultural misunderstanding:

Teyla stares at the flowers. After three long seconds in which she doesn't reach out to take them, Rodney finally figures something's wrong.

"They're a gift." The bouquet twitches in his hand. "They were pruning in the arboretum, and I thought... Well. I thought you might like them."

Teyla looks up at his face, her eyes still wide.

Rodney swallows. "Ah, this is a cultural thing, right? Something you only do for funerals or something?"

"Not funerals, no." She finally smiles. "But I will accept them in the manner you intended, and nothing more." Her smile turns sly. "For now."

For trobadora - Coldfire:

He dreams:

A river of fae rises up around his legs, a purple so deep it's black. There is no choice to be made; he takes it into himself. The cold burns, burns until he is nothing but fire and need.

"Do you see, Damien?" Gerald steps forward, a black shape rising up from the purple. His form settles, features growing out of the bright light that shines from within. "How could I possibly turn this away?"

Damien says nothing. Instead, he reaches out. When their hands meet, the fae flees. The heat that remains has no trace of ice.

For severusslave - Abby & Ducky, father-daughter:

"Aren't you here a little late, my dear?"

Abby looks up from her article, blinking away eyestrain she hadn't realized was there. Ducky steps closer, peering down at her desk.

"Whatever it is, it must be fascinating," he says, giving her an understanding smile.

"Oh, it totally is. Groundbreaking stuff." She wishes she'd thought of it herself. "Next time this comes up, I'm going to blow Gibbs' mind."

Ducky chuckles. She grins back at him, knowing he shares that particular passion.

"Hey, aren't you here kind of late, too?"

Ducky winks. "Just killing time before my date."

Abby laughs. "Excellent."

For ctorres - SGA character of my choice, and the Easter Bunny:

"Teyla," John says, surprised to see her at his door at this hour. "Is there something--" He stops, staring at the small basket she holds up in front of her.

"I found this in my room after I finished my evening run," she explains. "I assume that it is a gift, but I do not understand the significance."

He peers more closely at the contents of the basket. It's full of Earth chocolate, with a small beanie rabbit tucked amongst the goodies.

"Lucky you," he tells her with a smile. "Looks like you got a visit from the Easter Bunny."

For tigs - something Rodney and Teyla:

"Okay, no," Rodney snaps, his hand darting out to snag her wrist. "That will hurt very, very badly if you do that."

Teyla sighs and lets Rodney redirect her hand. The parts are so small, and they all look alike. But she's determined to learn. They need someone else on the team who can do these things, and even though she knows she will never match his ability, she can do as much as she can.

"Sorry," he says quietly. "I just... I just don't want you to get hurt."

Teyla turns her hand over, gently threading their fingers together.
