There was a little girl in the government office, playing with a tiny tiny puppy, curly-haired and all black (except for its little white-tipped toes).  I stopped to talk to the girl (who was adorable in her own rite) on my way out.  When asked if the puppy was a boy or a girl, she brightly responded, "It's a poodle!!"

adorable.

I spent some quality time during Spring Break applying for jobs, since subbing has REALLY fallen off (schools trying to save $$).  I had quite a week last week, with a flurry of interviews and receiving calls.  I have two new jobs, which seemed like a dream when I acecpted them, perfect schedules and everything.  I even turned down two other jobs after accepting these.

But now it's turning out that they aren't quite as dreamy as I thought.  The English-teaching was postponed a week, while the office tries to get the students to pay.  And the one I was most excited about, tutoring at Title 1 schools (you know, in the ghetto where nobody is passing the standardized tests), will be 1) ending April 30 and 2) not running April 1-10 due to testing.  Blargh!  Also, because of some weird organizational issues, three of my five students have moved since they signed up, which means my pay will also be $15 less hourly than expected ( I get $5 extra for each stuent).  So I have an uber-temporary job in an awful (and awfully far) neighborhood, which lets out at the peak of rush hour, for which it will take eons for me to get paid (since I'll be working one day and taking a long break).  *sigh*  Back to the drawing board, maybe.
