these is my words by nancy turner. it's a beautifully written "journal" from american pioneer days in the arizona territories. i'm not usually much for historical fiction but this one really grabbed me.

we're talking current boyfriend? i would no longer have a best friend, or a boyfriend. if they pull that kind of crap, neither one of them was worth my time in the first place.

i fought with my brother constantly. fisticuffs, no-holds-barred, wwf smackdown fighting. one time he clocked me upside the head with my own roller care bears roller skate, the old-fashioned kind with steel trucks. another time, i desperately ran into the kitchen for a knife, convinced i would really kill him this time, and pulled out a can opener in my haste. we both dissolved inot uncontrollable giggles, our argument completely forgotten.

oh, lots. can't stop listening this week to rogue wave's "lake michigan", "me and julio down by the schoolyard" the sesame street version, and bjork's "it's oh so quiet". dancin music!! today during my prep, i locked the door, cranked up the zune with thsoe 3 on repeat, kicked off my shoes and danced around the classroom until i was sweating.
