Steven Weir has never missed a Christmas with his children. Maybe they weren't always great Christmases; maybe some years he was too distracted or annoyed. Christmas can be a stressful holiday season, and sometimes the day itself is just a crescendo of everyone's irritability--

He's always been there. Every year.

2006 is going to be no exception.

Lizbet is finally sleeping when the key (mailed to him during the planning stages) turns in the lock on the front door, the cab pulling away. Steven lets himself in, looking around at the house the girls have made a home. (Anne will be in her seventies with dementia setting in and he'll still call her 'girl')

It looks like they accidentally recreated the house in DC. The same academic mess, coffee mugs and books and ... okay. Pom-poms. He can roll with that.
