and you give yourself away

Lizbet left her car at school, and will make Dominik drive her back there to pick it up. Thermos tucked under her arm, she pauses at the gift shop and rummages in the soft toys until she finds a plush kitten that looks suitably adorable. She forks out for that and then continues up to Stu's room -- she never saw the pictures of what happened to him ( Read more... )

Dominik follows behind like a loyal hound, stopping at the gift shop to toy with a few of the plush animals. The hippo is really catching his eye. He might come back and snag it for Daiam. At Stu's hospital room he stands to the side and knocks. He's not sure if there needs to be a nurse present or not.

The nurse only comes when called, for the most part. Stu calls quietly to come in; he rarely raises his voice and this is no exception.

It's obvious that he's been crying recently, but other than that, he's looking much better than he had been. The bruising and swelling have gone down considerably and he doesn't look like he's about to die anymore. Still, his mouth looks a mess and seeing him for the first time would probably still be rather shocking.

When they enter, he looks up and gives a shy little smile. "Hi, guys..."

Lizbet swallows when she sees the damage left, but she musters up a smile, coming in to sit by his bed. "Hey, Stu. I saw this in the gift shop and I couldn't go past it. You like?" she sets the plush kitten down. "And heeeere is your soup, as promised."

Dominik waves, smiling to the boy he normally talks to via internet. It's the wall that he chooses to stand against, eyes wandering to this and that. It's interesting from a scientific standpoint.

"Oh, fanks very much! It's so cute!" He smiles brightly, nearly oblivous to the gap in his teeth now. He forgets that not everyone has seen it, really. "I'll have to name him somefing good." There's a solemn nod as he pets the kitten gently for a moment.

His eyes widen happily at the thermos. The watery potato soup the hospital serves is starting to get to him already. "Ohhh, soup! Fanks for that too. I bet it's good."

Lizbet winces a little at the gap in his teeth, but not as visibly as she might. She smiles back at him. "Do you want some soup now, or should I just leave it here for you? I love my mom's vegetable soup, so I'll tell you right now that it is great."

"Sure smells good, I'll tell you that." He's been hungry ever since Lizbet stepped into the car with it. And he's damn tempted to beg his sister for some when he gets home.

"Oh, I'll take some now please. If you don't mind, anyway." It's rude to eat in front of people and he's not entirely sure about the proper etiquette for such things.

He shifts to sit up better for eating and the movement hurts enough to make him go pale under his bruises. Still, it's the only indication of pain that he gives. He's gotten very good at hiding it.

"Sure thing." Lizbet takes the cup off the top and uncaps the thermos, pouring it. "Are you going to be okay with the spoon...?" she doesn't like to ask that particular question, and she really doesn't want to embarrass him, but it seems like something she should check first. She brought a straw just in case, too.

The bruises get his attention more than anything else. How they soften under the skin. And how stu doesn't really react to it. A good eye spots a well trained pain-taker. He'll let it go for now, focusing on the smell of the soup to bring him back.

Stu is quite the well-trained pain-taker, and he's getting better with it all the time. Once he knows he has to deal with a particular pain, he learns to get used to it.

"I...uhm." It is a bit embarrassing, but not terribly so. He blushes faintly and shakes his head. "Not so good wiv a spoon yet. I'll get more soup on me 'n in me." There's a weak, apologetic chuckle as he moves his finger along the rim of the cup. "'Course, first time I tried to use a straw, it was just as bad...but I'm better now."

"Good thing I brought one just in case," Lizbet says, with only slightly forced cheer, rummaging until she finds it. She unwraps it and presents it to him helpfully.

Good catch. Dominik just smiles. He's not sure what to do and really doesn't want to offend Stu. Or Lizbet.

He takes the straw with a murmured 'fanks' and gives the soup a tentative sip. He's still a bit awkward using the straw, but he isn't going to make a mess of himself with it. "Oh...'s very good. Much better'n the hospital soup." He grins and goes back to sipping. He won't be able to hold much, but he'll do his best with it.

"Uhm. You can sit down if you like, Dom." He tilts his head. "Butcha don't have to if you don't want."

"Go on, Bubbles, sit. I'm glad you like the soup, Stu."

He nods, taking a seat in whatever chair is available.
