So Friday, Josh and I went to his senior banquet his school put on, and they did this pirate theme, so they had it in a cave!! For real, we were in a cave, and they had tables set up with candles, and they were decorated with gold coins, spyglasses, and hooks. It was fun. They played the soundtrack to Pirates of the Caribbean. There were several people dressed up in full piratey garb, it was pretty funny. They fed us pork and corn on the cob, fruit, and biscuits, but they did not give us ANY silverware! So all of us were eating with our hands and it was so messy. Also, they only had rootbeer in bottles to drink...I guess so we could feel like we were pirates drinking beer or something. After the dinner, we split up into teams and went on a treasure hunt. It was a timed thing and the team that won got a prize worth $200. So we went with another married couple (it was weird because they've been married longer but they were only 20 and 21! Geez!) And they drove, which was good because they knew Joplin really well. Our first clue was so confusing, none of us could figure it out, so we drove around for 40 minutes not knowing where to go. Finally we decided to use our "free pass", which basically meant they would tell us exactly where to go, but we would lose 10 minutes of our time. So we did that, and found out from the person that in the clue, they told us to go the WRONG DIRECTION!!! So we were all really annoyed because that totally threw us off and we would have found it a lot quicker had they said the RIGHT direction. But the rest of the clues were all right, and it was pretty crazy. We drove around and ran around like crazy for about 2 and a half hours. We had to do some silly stuff like go to Wal-mart, find the right employee, say "ARRRGH!" And if it was the right employee, they would say "Shiver me timbers!" And give us the next clue. Also we had to go through the drive-thru at Starbucks and ask for some piratey drink, and then they would give us our clue. It was pretty funny. We had a lot of fun.
Yesterday Josh and I watched "Better Off Dead", that movie with John Cusack from 1985. It was really crazy, but pretty funny and amusing. I like watching movies from the 80's.
