Giselle is a beautiful young woman with long, curly red hair and blue eyes. She generally wears long, flowing dresses with ribbon accents that she will make from any available fabric (translate: no rug, curtain, or other length of fabric will be safe), and she loves putting flowers up in her hair. In her first appearance at the house, she will be wearing her wedding dress: a huge, glittering confection of a dress with lots of lace and frills.
Giselle is very cheerful, outgoing, and resourceful. She has absolutely no cynicism whatsoever, and she attempts to make friends with everyone by steamrollering them with sheer, bloody-minded cheer. She is a dreamer and believes wholly in true love, and will always try to find the very best in any situation. She is unflappably cheerful and has never experienced anger.
Giselle hails from a land called Andalasia, located beyond the meadow of joy and the valley of contentment, and where all fairy tales exist in one form or another. She lives in a beautiful house in the woods there, and though she's the only human, she's not alone by any stretch of the imagination. She spends her days with her animal friends, the most prominent of which is Pip, a dedicated, quick-thinking chipmunk. Exactly how Giselle ended up in her isolated home is unknown, but rumor has it the evil Queen Narissa may have had something to do with it.
One day, Giselle calls all of her animal friends to her: she's had a dream about her one true love, and she needs their help in recreating his face before she forgets what it looks like. The animals are confused as to why Giselle is so insistent on his having lips, and she explains through song that kisses are the most important part of courtship. Nearby, Prince Edward is ogre hunting and hears her song, immediately recognizing the other half of his duet. He goes to find her, but, mysteriously, the ogre he has just felled escapes his bonds and races ahead to eat the fair maiden. Luckily, Giselle escapes the ogre's clumsy attempts to eat her, and as she falls from her tree, lands on Destiny, Prince Edward's horse. Her eyes meet Edward's, and they know this is true love. Edward declares they will be married the next day, and they ride Destiny back to the castle to prepare for the royal wedding.
The next day, Giselle arrives at the castle and is rushing to the chapel when she is waylaid by an old hag offering her wishes on her wedding day. Giselle follows the woman to a wishing well, and leans over, wishing for her happily ever aft - when the hag pushes her into the well, to a place where "there are no happily ever afters."
