It was horribly hot for me. Broke the 1958 record high temperature and hit 115 F on the Saturday. Between that and the over air-conditioned casinos, no wonder I had a cold. The back and forth between hot and cold was killer.
We planned lots of things that we ended up not doing.
Things we didn't do:
- Mirage volcano
- Spice Market buffet (Groupon)
- Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns at the Palms
- Mon Ami Gabi
- Burger Bar
- visit the Orleans
- happy hour at Sushi Roku
- Circus Circus for the WIN cards
- the Riviera, so Nyssa could say she'd been there
- Wynn/Encore, we haven't been there since our first visit in 2010
- Venetian to check out Carnevale stuff
While trying out new hotels/casinos on the Strip is great, I'm still a downtown person.
I will not do 3 hotels in a week again. Maybe 2 would be okay. Not regretting doing it, just don't see the need.
I was on a strict budget this trip, smaller than I've ever done in Vegas before. I usually do $100/day for gambling and have money for meals aside from this. This time I had about $110/day all in. And I managed to come home with money in my pocket, so that's a successful trip.
While the Caesars buffet is very good, it's too pricey for a buffet. Now that Nyssa has done it, there's no need to go back. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.
I really liked the NYNY casino, lots of slots I like and they were nice to me. Even if they weren't as nice, they still have a nice selection.
Can't remember which casino this was at but here goes. We're walking past the high limit slots area. We look in at some of the $1 slots. Right outside this? A bunch of $5 slots. Go figure.
Slot winnings are, IMO, meant to spent on the little extras - cabs, nicer meals and the like. If I still come home with money, all the better. If I don't, that's okay, too.
