I agree with you on the likes and dislikes of this episode.
The ending really bothered me, for pretty much the same reasons you pointed out. It honestly felt odd to me that they wanted to try and show Eliot going off with some chick after he took a beating. He's just always struck me as the kind of guy who'd be more into resting up so he's fresh for the next fight, or whatever. Definitely not the kind of guy who'd want to hook up right then. I'm all for Eliot having fun, but that just wasn't the scene to imply it from. They could've done so much more with it.
And I had to LOL at your "friend who is driving Eliot to his private doctor" bit, because I totally wrote a tag in which the chick was a former army nurse and an old buddy of Eliot's. That scene's just so much better if Nurse Gail is no longer some chick Eliot's going off to hook up with.
And I really hope they start backing off the couples thing. I can deal with little hints every now and then...but we just keep getting more and more couples scenes...and it's annoying. They probably thought they were doing a good thing throwing in the nurse for Eliot, to make it seem like he wasn't a fifth wheel or whatever...but in the end you still just had two couples, sitting in the bar. I love my pairings in fanfic, but for the actual show I need it to be Team-centric.
