30-day Fic Meme (Day 27) and 30-day Harry Potter Meme (Day 1)
27 - Where is your favorite place to write, and do you write by hand or on the computer?
It really depends. I generally prefer to write somewhere with minimal distractions. Complete silence usually doesn't work, but neither does a lot of discernible background noise. White noise works best--so sitting in a mall where there is a racket going on all around me is great for writing. The noise is comforting rather than distracting. I also sometimes write in the middle of the night, because it's much quieter. Also, I enjoy writing outside.
I actually love the tactile experience of writing in a notebook. Not all of my stories start out this way, but a fair amount of them do.

Since I'm almost done with one 30-meme, I've decided to be all badass and start another. This one is Harry Potter-related.

Day 1: Your favorite book.
Prisoner of Azkaban. No question. Not only does it introduce a couple of my favorite characters (Remus and Sirius), it also kicks the overall story into high gear and adds a great deal of backstory to the adult generation. I also love the way this book ties together threads started in the first two books. I'm rereading the series now, and I'm struck by the little nuggets that were folded into the story and later culminated in the Shrieking Shack scene.
