Notes: This was made as part of my whedonland Big Bang. My theme is Lindsey McDonald.
I'm fascinated by the relationship between Lindsey and Holland Manners. Holland was a master manipulator who could scare the crap out of Lindsey one minute then appeal to his need for fatherly approval the next. Lindsey was his golden boy, and he coaxed and coerced Lindsey into becoming more ingrained in Wolfram and Hart at a time when he was almost to walk out the door. To me, this episode the episode that put him on the course that led to "Not Fade Away." Holland offered Lindsey the approval and purpose that Angel didn't, and Lindsey was hooked.
The scenes in the middle of this spam are classic and are a testament to the talent of both Christian Kane and Sam Anderson. Just look at the expressions on their faces. It's easy to see Lindsey volley back and forth between sheer panic, moderate fear, and ever-so-slight "I'm not going to die" relief. And I love the regret and self-loathing at the end of the spam.
I am most definitely going to write more "Holland screws with Lindsey's mind" fic.
