Eliot watched as Blackwell staggered toward the exit of the mine. The bastard. He hoped the cops nailed that guy's ass to the wall and then some. The good people of this town didn’t deserve to have their fortunes tied to that greedy scumbag.

As soon as Blackwell was out of sight, Eliot turned back toward the hole he’d made in the rubble and pulled Nate through the opening. He moved his eyes up and down Nate’s unsteady form, looking for any sign of trauma that needed immediate attention. “You okay?”

Once he was through, Nate tried in vain to dust off his pants and shirt. “Yeah,” he said, glancing down at his grimy clothes. “I’ll be better once I jump into a shower and get this dirt off me.”

Grinning, Eliot pulled his earbud out, slid it into his pocket, and motioned for Nate to do the same. Hardison had cut the connection to the PA system, but leaving the earbuds in might still reveal a little more to the team than Nate and Eliot wanted. They hadn’t told anyone about their relationship just yet and had no plans to do so in the immediate future. Sneaking around was proving to be far too much fun.

Pulling Nate into an embrace, he whispered, “I can’t wait to join you.” This was the first real alone time he’d had with Nate since they’d started this job and even standing in a dusty mine, Nate felt solid and comforting in his arms.

“Mmm. That’ll be nice,” Nate said. He smiled at the thought, then took a step back to gaze at Eliot. “Look at you. You’re worse than I am.” He reached forward and ran his thumb tenderly along Eliot’s dirt-laden cheek.

Grinning, Eliot said, “Well, I’ve been working in a mine, Nate. Ain’t nothing wrong with a little dirt from a hard day’s work.”

“Noted,” Nate said with a smile. “I’m still gonna have to scrub you extra good tonight.” Motioning toward the exit, he added, “Come on. I want to see the fireworks when they cart Blackwell off to jail.”

Catching Nate’s wrist with his hand, Eliot gently pulled him into his arms. “Not so fast, handsome,” he said. He nuzzled Nate’s neck, savoring the warmth of his skin. Then he placed a soft kiss on the skin just below Nate’s ear.

“Eliot, we’re both filthy,” Nate whispered.

Eliot chuckled softly. He well knew that Nate had a thing about being clean when they touched each other. Taking Nate’s dusty face in his hands, he said, “I think it’s kind of sexy myself.”

“Being caked in dirt is not sexy,” Nate said, shaking his head. He closed his eyes and groaned as Eliot placed kisses along his jawline. “Seriously, Eliot. We’ll have plenty of time for this back at the motel.”

“Tease,” Eliot said as he nipped lightly at Nate’s bottom lip. “I just want a minute alone with you. Consider it a sneak preview for tonight.” When Nate nodded, Eliot pressed a soft kiss on his lips, and with one hand, he tugged at Nate’s shirt, pulling the corner out of his pants so he could run a hand up the sensitive skin along Nate’s spine.

With a sudden burst of abandon, Nate forgot about the dirt covering them both and threaded his fingers into Eliot’s hair, yanking him forward for a rough, probing kiss. Eliot smirked as Nate’s tongue ran along the roof of his mouth. Getting Nate to let go took a bit of coaxing, but when he got there, he could be deeply passionate.

For a few moments, they stood there in each other’s arms, lips locked and limbs tangled. When the need to breathe forced them break the kiss, Eliot took a step back and smacked Nate on the shoulder. “So I guess we’d better get out there before someone comes in and catches us.”

“Yeah,” Nate said, still breathless from the kiss. “I guess we should,” Turning toward the exit, Nate glanced over his shoulder and flashed Eliot a dirty grin. “Not that I’d be completely opposed getting caught.”
