Something Borrowed, Something Blue

Multi-Media Bingo fills done for scifiland for Team Anti-Hero. Features Star Wars, Sanctuary, Eureka, SGA, V, and The 4400:

Favorite Character--Han Solo Meta

My dad was a sci-fi fan, so I grew up watching the original Star Wars trilogy. Even as a kid, I knew there was something special about Han Solo. His swagger, his gruff exterior that hid a heart of gold, his backstory. I loved all of it. Here was a character-an anti-hero-I could understand on a deeper level. He was flawed, reluctant to fight the good fight, and he had emotional defenses a mile high. Plus, he and his always-fun sparkage with Princess Leia gave me my first real ship. He was one of the characters who changed my understanding of what makes an engaging character. Even today, Han Solo tends to be the template by which I judge other male characters. And he totally shot first.

BFF-ness--Henry and the Big Guy Meta

Henry and the Big Guy are two of my favorite characters on Sanctuary, and their rapport is just beautiful and unexpectedly poignant. A good example of their bond is the Big Guy's reaction after it was revealed that Henry was an abnormal, specifically a werewolf. Henry struggles with the fact that he is turning into something that terrifies him. The Big Guy is there with wisdom and friendship and soup. Their relationship is probably one of the most unforced rapports on the show. The chemistry between the actors is genuine, and it makes the friendship that much more believable.

A Ship--Jo Lupo/Zane Donovan Minimix (post-"Founder's Day")

You Tube Link: Catch the Wind by Donovan

When sundown pales the sky,
I wanna hide a while, behind your smile,
And everywhere I'd look, your eyes I'd find.

For me to love you now,
Would be the sweetest thing, 'twould make me sing,
Ah, but I may as well, try and catch the wind.

Someone You Hated But Now Love--Ronon Dex Meta

Hate is a really strong word, but when Ronon Dex was first brought into SGA, I just didn’t connect with him. Which is odd, because I'm usually drawn to the surly badass. ;) I thought to myself, “oh great, he's trying to be Teal'c. And isn’t he the guy from that crappy ass Baywatch spin-off?” But Ronon grew on me pretty quickly. I found his backstory compelling and his interaction with the team poignant. And then there was the episode “Sateda.” Ronon is trapped alone with a bunch of Wraith who are trying to kill him, and he goes on the attack. At one point he kicks a gun into the air with his foot and catches it in his hand. That right there was the moment I became a squealing Ronon fangirl.

Colours--Lorne/Parrish Dress Blues Ficlet

Most officers bitched when they had to pull out their dress blues for an official function. Sheppard-and even O’Neill-grumbled about how their BDUs were so much more comfortable, and how the tie for their dress uniform was too tight and constricting. But Major Evan Lorne, he liked to dress up once in a while. He liked the spit and polish and the way he stood a little taller and the way the fabric felt as he smoothed his fingers along the cuffs. He liked all of that. But mostly, Lorne loved the way a certain botanist’s jaw dropped a little when he sauntered into the room fully clad in his dress blues.
