It is SO hot outside today. And traffic... yikes. But I'm home for a while. Hopefully by the time I go out tonight, the traffic will have quieted to less hectic levels. In the meantime, I plan to fill myself with lots of beverages, listen to some music, enjoy the AC, and maybe do some writing.
I'm pumped about the premiere of Leverage. It's ALMOST HERE YOU GUYS!!! \o/
Okay, here's a ship meme. It was hard to pick the ships for the first section, because I have so many!
NOTE: For those flist who are trying to get through Leverage Season 2 before the Season 3 premiere, there is a minor spoiler for the Season 2 finale in one question. ;)
Six ships you're into right now
01 - Nate/Eliot (Leverage)
02 - McKay/Sheppard (SGA)
03 - Sawyer/Juliet (Lost)
04 - Eliot/Parker (Leverage)
05 - Nate/Maggie (Leverage)
06 - Kirk/McCoy (Nu!Trek)
Three ships you liked, but have lost interest in
07 - Sawyer/Kate (Lost)
08 - Northstar/Iceman (X-Men)
09 - Mal/Inara (Firefly)
Three ships you never liked
10 - Jack/Sam (SG-1)
11 - Remus/Tonks (HP)
12 - Scott/Chloe (SGU)
Two ships you're curious about, but don't actually ship
13 - Lindsey/Wesley (AtS)
14 - Sophie/Tara (Leverage)
Why do you dislike #11 so much? (Remus/Tonks) Well, since the books were from Harry's POV, the readers only saw things through his eyes. Consequently, this whole thing with Remus and Tonks sort of came out of nowhere. I tend not to like ships that blindside me. But the biggest gripe I had with the ship was that it made both characters watered down versions of themselves. I went from loving Remus to not wanting to read about him, because he drove me crazy. And Tonks lost her spunk.
Who is someone you know that ships #14? (Sophie/Tara) I see fic for it in the comms a lot, but I don't know if anyone on my flist ships it.
What would be your ideal scenario for couple #3? (Sawyer/Juliet) Well, obviously, Juliet wouldn't have died. Other than that, I'd just have them settle down together and have a nice life. Sawyer would work as a private detective in the agency he owns with Miles and Richard, and Juliet would go back to being a badass doctor. :D
Which is your favorite moment for couple #1? (Nate/Eliot) There are several, but I really like the scene in "The Maltese Falcon Job" where Eliot tells Nate he'll have his back all the way down. I loved that.
How long have you been following couple #6? (Kirk/McCoy) Well, in some way, shape, or form, I've been following them for years. It wasn't until the movie came out, though, that I really started to read fic.
What's the story with #8? What made you stop liking them/caring? (Northstar/Iceman) Well, it was mostly the creative direction (ie the backpeddling) a couple of the writers did a few years ago. The writers could have explored the pairing, even if they wound up having them choose to be friends. But instead, they rushed to reassert Bobby's dubious heterosexuality. Besides, I thought Austen did a rush job when it came to having JP develop feelings for Bobby in the first place. The pairing could have worked if it had been given proper build-up, and had both characters been treated with respect by the writers.
You have the power to make one ship non-existent. Choose from #10 or #12: (Jack/Sam or Scott/Chloe) Well, I don't really think either ship needs to become non-existent (at least not in the world of fanfic). I can like what I like, and the respective shippers for those pairings can like what they like. Having said that, though, I would like the writers to get rid of the Scott/Chloe pairing on screen, or at least downplay them.
Which ship do you prefer #2 or #4? (McKay/Sheppard or Eliot/Parker) Wow, that's a tough choice. I think McKay/Sheppard. &hearts
What interests you about #14? (Sophie/Tara) I just like the idea of Sophie having had a wild and raunchy fling with Tara.
Why did you stop liking #7? (Sawyer/Kate) There comes a time when you just reach a saturation point with certain couples, and I reached mine with Sawyer and Kate around the end of Season 4. The writers kept dragging it out, and then they seemed to decide at some point that he really wanted Jack, and so on. Plus, Juliet came along, and I love Sawyer/Juliet. Juliet was better for Sawyer than Kate, and they had a great chemistry.
Did your waning interest in #9 kill your interest in the show? (Mal/Inara) No, not at all. I was never an epic shipper of the couple anyway.
What’s a song that reminds you of #5?
If I Ever Leave This World Alive by Flogging Molly. The lyrics work so well.
If you could have any of these two pairings double-date, who would it be? I would love to see Nate and Maggie go to a really fancy restaurant with Eliot and Parker.
Have #2 kissed yet? (McKay/Sheppard) Alas, no.
Did #4 have a happy ending? If the show hasn't ended yet, do you think a happy ending is likely? (Eliot/Parker) Well, I don't see them as an onscreen couple, so in the sense that they would wind up married with a picket fence or something, no. But I think they'll both have a happy ending in their own ways by the end of the series.
What would make you start shipping #13? (Wes/Lindsey) A few fic recs? :D I've been rewatching key episodes of the series, and now I've decided that Wes and Lindsey would be perfect together. This clicked in my brain like yesterday. I haven't had much time to investigate the fic situation.
If only one could happen, which would you prefer, #2 or #6? (McKay/Sheppard or Kirk/McCoy) McKay/Sheppard
You have the power to decide the fate of #10. What happens to them? (Jack/Sam) They remain good friends but pair off romantically with other people.
Which of these ships do you love the most? Depends on my mood. Right now, I'm probably reading more Nate/Eliot than anything.
